anyone know anything about importingn a car into the us from canada, toronto specifically?
    #5598681 - 05/06/06 07:31 PM (17 years, 8 months ago)

i found a sweet used car for sale in toronto and i want to go and buy it. i know that there will be a 2.5% tax on the purchase price of the vehicle (at the border)

but i dont know what sort of papers i would have to file in toronto to drive a used vehicle that i just bought. I know that canadians have 6 days to register a used car, but can I drive it around for those 6 days before going back to the states???

ill be buying the insurance in the states before i leave to get the car, so ill have that covered.....

any help would be apreciated!

thanks

yeah.. work it out so he maybe even "gifts" the vehicle to you.. and settle in cash.. that whole tax thing is a bitch.

no im was saying when u go to the title place to switch it over.. u tell them that the vehicle was a gift.. so u pay no taxes on it.. and just settle with the owner in cash and hand write a bill of sale..
