My wbs has began to germinate
    #5597757 - 05/06/06 01:40 PM (17 years, 8 months ago)

Ok so after a certain situation arose I was unable to get to my bird seed after I had strained it. It sat for a while and has began to germinate.

Should I throw it all out and start over? Or is it still ok to PC and use?

It's still good. Just follow your regular procedure but make sure it hasn't dried out to much.

The moisture content will probably be off and WBS is too cheap for you to even to bother reusing it.

Also, it's begun. My WBS has begun to germinate. :smirk:

actualy not to put foo down but there is planty of moisture in the jars in the roots, when you pc them the moisture will be released back into the jar.

i have used jars that have sprouted and each seed has a 1 1/2" sprout and it still worked great, it will be a little starchy but tha is no problem. i have even used wbs that has sprouted and started to mold and
after i pc them they worked fine.

so go for it.

as they said in some movie(i don't remember which one);

a belief is a dangerous thing, people will kill over it; instead of believing you need to find your facts and then have an opinionated idea that you are willing to change in light of new evidence

I don't take that as a put down. I'm not saying that it wouldn't work, just that I wouldn't bother when I can get a 50lb bag of WBS for $10. I've found that 80% of the things I see posted here are just opinions. Not many things are set in stone in this hobby other than the basic parameters. Don't let me or anyone else stop you from trying something that you believe makes sense. Experimentation leads to new teks :thumbup:

Ive had this happen many times, due to the fact I sometimes lazily soak mine for 48 hours. Never had a wbs jar contam as of yet. It should be okay :smile:
