i was hopeing that someone on here would be able to identify this mushroom for me, heres all the info that was requested
i found it in colorado in some ones yard, it was cold and foggy out. i dont know what kinda soil.
the gills are black and when i first picked it it oozed black tarish stuff all over the bag, the are attached but the cap split
the stem was a long white thing as you can see, its kinda firm. and its hollow and pretty thin like a centimeter in diameter
* Characteristics of the cap (diameter, color, texture, conical/spherical, convex/concave, etc)it looks like it spored already, its about an inch in diameter, it split in four sections its flat now,
i did not spore print the mushroom
it smells really strongly of dirt, and it smells like shrooms ive eaten before

If you check carefully you'll find that they were growing from wood (probably buried wood, like old tree roots). Coprinus micaceus will be coming up in huge quantities here in Colorado for the next month or so, if the rains keep up.

If you're looking for actives, these aren't. The few actives we have here won't start until June or July.

Happy mushrooming!
