    #5596980 - 05/06/06 05:22 AM (17 years, 8 months ago)

I was wondering if anyone has any luck with soundblaster? I cant seem to find a driver, maybe it doesnt exist. I also diconnected the card and tried to use the onboard sound and it still didnt work...hmmm. Any suggestions?

dunno, a lot of people have issues with sound in linux, especialy gigabyte mobo owners like me. It usualy works though it just acts strange sometimes, like audio not synced with video. So you just get no sound at all? Is this a soundblatser live? Linux usualy doesnt require any drivers it should set it up automatically. I would check your mixer settings. Also what linux are you using, ubuntu?

What model of sound blaster exactly? If it's an audigy, try modprobe snd_emu10k1 as root and see if that works. If the module loads successfully, run alsamixer and unmute your channels by arrowing over to them and hitting M.

I have a audigy soundblaster LS. works in ubuntu with a minor configuration - which is probably all you have to do. I can walk you thru it...

I'm using Live, in Ubuntu. Bio, if you could do that I would be eternally grateful. :gd_icon:

...it all depends on the distro. some distros have the drivers automatically load. the driver for soundblaster (what the original poster has) comes with ubuntu - he just has to do a minor configuration to turn the sound on.
