No World War III
    #5596747 - 05/06/06 01:38 AM (17 years, 8 months ago)

No World War III

My God my writing withstood the echo
I somehow felt a world of pain
My writing is more important than World War III
And I pray it never really happened

I hope you realize the profundity of saying it never really happened. In reference to World War II it is a heartless thing to say. But saying it before World War III becomes this profound thing, a cry for peace.

I don't think you have any words of wisdom that are going to be smarter than what I have to say to be honest. You can say I'm here fighting for peace, but that's just a lie. There are going to be people who understand that I'm here asking for peace, give peace a chance. I'm here writing poetry.

Gomp, I really respect you, but don't you dare say I'm fighting anyone. I'm really trying not to. I'm really trying to get us out of World War III before it starts. You can laugh all you want, but crazier things have happened. I'm not fighting for peace, you're here fighting yourself to say stuff like that about someone trying so hard. Go read what's on that blog. You can discount it all you want, but that doesn't mean you're right doing it. You can make up every lie under the sun, but there's always going to be the truth, there's always going to be the artistry, that excitement of youth. There's much more love in the poetry than hate. Anyone who really knows what they are talking about knows that. I think you're a bright guy, but not when you go around saying things like you said. My writing has a lot of peace in it. I really prayed it did.

I don't think he was either. I wish I knew what he meant though. He can suggest I was fighting all he wants, but sooner or later he's going to have to face the reality that I was here asking for peace, writing poetry about it.

"But don't you dare say I'm fighting anyone,"

Or whaddya gunna do? Right a fucking poem about how people misinterpret what you say? Your inability to interpret what they say?

Yeah, well, ... first off, you think you're tight because you can "artfully" spew out ambigious statements?

If your poetry was really awesome, you could come in talking as if you're some literary genius, but honestly you didn't say anything revolutionary... so you come here and you post your emotionally-perpetuated discourse; for what purpose? For the purpose of feedback, so you get some feedback, and you don't like it because your skills in data interpretation are lacking, (further indication of communication-related personality flaws, in which case you shouldn't be writing poetry) so YOU immediately, if anyone preceeding me did, begin to provoke somebody into some lesser form of contention, but contention nonetheless...

So now you're going to get direct criticism from me, I left no room, or at least attempted to leave no room, for misinterpretion.

You use the words "angels," "heaven" and "God" quite frequently, as well as "prayer."

Your usage of words typically associated with that which we do not entirely understand, and thus connotative of something "deeper," will not fool me into thinking you a visionary.

This "movement" (although I shouldn't state that, as I can't clearly define what the "movement" is, other than it doesn't agree with the current US presidential administration) does not need emo'd out poets, we need concise societal critics, authors, professionals and people with a knack for explaining things, which are so horribly obvious to some, to those who cannot see...

Damned it, we need to quit lollygagging around and focus on the neurological workings of the human encephalon, as that appears to be the source perpetuating this mess...
--digression--

Point is, you're not that good at poetry, so quick acting like all fussy when a misinterpretation arises; it's fucking poetry, it's meant to be misinterpreted, if you want to actually get a point out there, one sits down and articulates his ideas in a manner which is intended to get your ideas heard... instead of trying to sound linguistically apt in the art of flavorful language... (which you're not that good at.)

Yeah... don't worry man, from the sound of it you visit Heaven every other 2 days so things must be just peachy. Maybe Jesus and you can sit down and make some revisements.

(I know most of what I said was probably bullshit, but you came in here posting as if you "knew," so I responded, and my response may indicate I think I "know."

Nobody fucking knows, ok, but I do "know" that your poetry is not that cool, perhaps a slight upgrade in vocabulary from your typical teenage emo poem.)

Dude, you're gunna have to face the reality that he was here asking for peace... writing POETRY about it!

Thank you for making this thread, it gave me the necessary boost this morning, propelling me from the grey world of no-motivation to a greener land filled with goofy people for me to ponder...

You really are a goofball. You're incredibly serious, it kills me, just so serious. (FACE THE REALITY THAT YOU WERE HERE ASKING FOR PEACE, WRITING POETRY ABOUT IT)

Face the reality? And then you go off about lies and "the truth," ... maybe it's your truth, and any infraction upon YOUR TRUTH would thus be catagorized a lie... to YOU.

Get over yourself, that's essentially why I am posting, to help you get over yourself.

I wouldn't have posted any of this if two factors weren't met:

My boredom,
Your apparent self-absorption.

I'm 18.

In my immediate circle of peers, I know of nobody who can exude the degree of literary eloquence I can...

Sometimes I'll scan through things I've written and come upon a grand disquisition I cannot believe I wrote, I read it once again and yes, it makes me feel good, it certainly looks nothing like most of the context spewed forth by any young developing individual.

And I've gotten used to the response most of things I write get, and once again, it makes me feel good. However, being human we are of course prone to flaws, and this extends, indubitably, to communication.

And I've gotten criticism I didn't agree with, but I didn't start going off about the criticiser's "lies" in relation to my immutable "truths."

Because I realize that I, too, suck at many aspects of human communication.

It's one thing to suck at poetry, nobody can, reasonably, attack you for such things...

But sucking at poetry and acting like you've got some grand revelation to bring through it (poetry) are two entirely different situations, and one invites harsh feed-back. Invitation accepted.

That's a lot of made up bullshit. My writing is really something. The times I have tried to be an artist I've been able to come up with stuff the world has never seen. You don't know what you're talking about. Whoever you are talking about isn't me. It's a stereotype of what an artist is that you have because who knows why. Say what you will about my writing, but it was there for you to chop down, to destroy. I created it. I did all the work. You sat and watched acting like you were the authority. It's so absurd. You don't know anything about my career, the poems I've written, the recordings I've done. You don't have any idea what you're talking about. I'm a superstar.

I'm sorry. I don't want to seem like an ass here but I'm gonna have to agree with Herbus. You came here posting for criticism and you got it. If you don't like what others have to say then don't post your work.

But in my opinion your work is nothing great. It just reminds me of some average 5th graders poetry skills. But all that matters in the end is that your happy with it. So just build on top of the criticism you get and make it better.

Herbus hit it on the head. If you were an artist, you wouldn't come here seeking our approval feeding off of it, you need to get past shit like if you want your work to mean something. Without real soul, your poetry is meaningless

Again, the person you are speaking of isn't me. I recorded Sing Sing Dream. I wrote 7:77, The Thought of You, and Stood Up with Love. You are talking about someone else. The hate in you has caused you to be inaccurate about what it is you're seeing. Trust me, I'm never going to believe I was your teacher. I'm well aware you aren't looking to listen to anyone but yourself. I'm well aware of what my art is and what it means if you are or not.

You can say that all you want, but it's a travesty you aren't talking about the beauty of me sitting in my chair believing in myself as a writer. You don't understand the level of creativity involved in what it is you're seeing. You see that I'm an artist and attack me with your dumb stereotypes that have nothing to do with me. I'm a great artist. You can say it isn't true all you want, but you're kidding yourself doing that. I really gave everything. Don't hate me because you didn't. Don't hate me because I tried, or because I was blessed for some reason.

Don't you get his poetry?
Well, it's hard too unless you know what he's talking about.
And he says it pretty clearly, which is why I suspect BOBO doesn't like it,
Because it's very altered inspired writting, perhaps needing edits and transcripts.
From the heart is always well taken to me, I like it.

Yeah a real fucking superstar.

I can see Walt Whitman dancing around aftering finishing a poem, "I'm a superstar, I'm a superstar," he shouts!

Poets are now superstars?

You suck, get over yourself.

I'm sure Emerson jerked off to his own poetry while he was telling everyone how good he was.

It's crazy that you project that stuff onto me when you are the one saying it, when the ideas are coming from you. Why not look after yourself instead of talking about geniuses you have no idea about.

Sox, no one likes your poetry for a few reasons.

1. It's not good.
2. You're parading it around relentlessly, and combating any criticism with ridiculous and ill-conceived statements.
3. Refer to reason #1.

Look at how simply you answered criticism that favored your writing. "Thank you." You argue that those who say your writing is bad simply don't understand it. It's just as likely that someone who liked your vague bullshit didn't grasp the meaning either.

Good day, sir.

We make ourselves a world apart
Behind light words that tease and flout,
But oh, the agitated heart
Till someone really finds us out.

'Tis pity if the case require
(Or so we say) that in the end
We speak the literal to inspire
The understanding of a friend.

But so with all from babes that play
At hide-and-seek to god afar,
So all who hide too well away
Must speak and tell us where they are.

-Robert Frost

An example of good poetry. You'll notice double meaning through choice diction, meter, and a number of other rhetorical devices.

Yeah definitely a good poem, it immediately asserts its goodness, a good example of polarity to Sox's poems, which immediately assert that they suck.

Damn you and your overusage of "angel," and other 'heavenly connotative' words.

Jfisher, I think you really brought it home with your last two posts.

It seems that you are talking to who you wish I was rather than who I am. It doesn't matter if you can think of a mindless insult or not. You have to say something that doesn't make sense about my writing because it's so good. It's remarkable that you say what you say to someone who says what I say. Some of the people here insulting my writing don't know the first thing about it. They don't understand that there's much more to it than even the blog. You can insult it all you want, but it doesn't mean anything when it's some uninformed person saying it to one of the geniuses of this young century.

Please tell me about your writing, Mr. Genius of the Century.  What is it about your writing that transcends the worldly limitations of your blog?  Or am I still talking to the wrong person?  What was mindless about my criticism?  How do you know how informed I am?

It goes both ways.  Read that other poem I posted, you might find some of its meaning holds true to you.

Well.  To my knowledge I have been writing for five years but have been a writer all my life.  I'm a genuine artist, a real superstar, and I don't know why.  The writing is the writing, it is the basis of the art.  The poems are written by a rock star who failed because of his ego.  So he writes for salvation.  I also recorded 15 albums in the span of four months to become that failed rock star, the humor being I actually became what I previously had written about.  I also have done visual art that is on the blog.  I honestly believe I'm worth a trillion dollars, but I want to give it away.

It seems more like you've put monumental effort into trying to create a cheap gimmick. Either that, or you've really just lost it. Any chance we could hear any of these recordings?

I don't think it's a gimmick at all. It's just written as one really. I write as a superstar, to me it's a joke, but it's really what I am. All of the recordings have been released in very limited quantities, but they are out there. The first album Yorke got a lot of buzz early in the year around art industry old rich circles.

Sing Sing Dream is a unique record because it's all original stuff. With the exception of The Prayer Record and maybe a few others, the rest of the albums are filled with tributes to other artists. There are covers from everyone from REM, Nirvana, Bob Dylan, Pete Townshend, to The Cars, Roger Waters, Pretenders, and Lou Reed. The recordings in my mind have always been an offshoot of the writing. The writing was always the main event. But the recordings were very important, especially when they involved the writing.

Damn...

This thread is ghey. This guy has lost it and his work sucks!. Do you ever wonder why you failed as a musician? You only fail as a musician if nobody likes your work. So why dont you just get over your ego and just accept reality. The sooner you do that the sooner this thread will die.

But you don't mention that you are talking about a writer who wrote through a character who failed on purpose. It makes me think you don't know the difference. I did all the work, you failed at watching. That's what happened here. You can say how horrible I am all you want, but it's just your projection. I'm really great if you believe it or not. You can say the art isn't there, but it is. I gave everything. I deserve to be a great writer.

hmmmmm yeeaahhh...

you did all the work and its doing nothing or getting you nowhere. Except giving you that little self satisfaction of thinking your a "superstar". If your work was so great it would be published in a poetry book. Not on a public forum. It makes me glad you were never succesful; I just wouldnt know what to think if people liked your work.

I'll tell you what...why dont you try sending your poetry into a publisher and getting it into a book. If ya make it, I MIGHT change my views on your writting. If ya dont....well....you work will still suck.

PS. Why not post some lyrics to your music? Id love to be ammused by reading them.

To do what you are trying to do and to be a superstar are exclusive.

Lusting for fame is opening up like poisoned flowers snaking all around your garden. If you really want to be a big shot put down the pen and pick up a brief case. If you really want to be an artist, be poor, write things that will make your friends and family smile, never see yourself from the perspective of Yorke.

Your poems aren't so bad but you need pruning.

Quit littering the board and taking up space with your constant barrage, please.

Don't accuse me of wasting the space you are. I wish I could say better of you, but I can't. You are talking about things you don't know about in such a negative way. It's crazy really. You are another person who has failed at watching. Go look at that blog and tell me you have the kind of patience and goodness that it takes to do that type of a thing. I was blessed for some reason, and you think you can say with a sound mind what you say about it? Do you hate Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan? I sure don't. I have spent a lot of time you likely haven't trying to be a real writer. If you want to argue it you can, but just know I'm going to die believing I was some very important spiritual writer, some entirely unique artist.

And as for publishing. Go read the Safe European Blog interview that is linked in the archives of the blog.

Such hostility!

The difference between good writers and great writers is this, a great writer doesn't have to remind society constantly about the contributions that they make to it. Great writers are not forgotten.

Why shouldn't I have hostility for someone who believes such bullshit? If you honestly think you have anything to say about what I have done as an artist you are kidding yourself.

If you substituted "angel," for something less frequent, yet of the same definition, that poem would be alright, man.

I don't know. I want to say thank you for the good advice, but I also want to say I believe in the reality that you told the new William Blake not to talk about angels.

IN my honest opinion, William Blake is the only individual who can talk about angels in such a manner.

You certainly don't see angels as William Blake did, and one could argue nobody else ever will.

Even still, the context in which he uses them is completely different... much more his own interpretation rather just using the word in a 'connotative sense,' if you dig what I mean.

Honestly though, William Blake saw the world in different colors and as such angels probably represented a lot more...

As for the "new" William Blake. I mean I hate to revert back from slightly nice, or at least indifferent, remarks to critical and "mean" ones but, ... dude, you're definitely no "new" William Blake...

Such a thing does not exist and if it did, assuredly, the position would be occupied by somebody other than you, hate to say it.

LOL...this thread is too funny. Umm, I'm not expert, but in my opinion your poetry is amateur at best. And your attitude stinks. A superstar is not so bitter or defensive. Perhaps you could enlighten me as to why your poetry is beyond amateur?

here's something ill spit off the top of my head

Branches of year-round color
Obstruct the path of this peeping tom
Hormones racing like a barrel down a mountainside
While the prick fails to get a good view of your Mom.

The setting sun soaks the sanguine sky
Silhouette of the steadfast soldier
Many will come, many will live, many will die
Yet it will not change, nor get younger, nor older

It will return, with haste, bring devestation, as it has before
Yet I assure you, my friend, no complacent fool named Sox will stop the Third World War.

UH!
