No World War III
    #5596747 - 05/06/06 01:38 AM (17 years, 8 months ago)

No World War III

My God my writing withstood the echo
I somehow felt a world of pain
My writing is more important than World War III
And I pray it never really happened

I hope you realize the profundity of saying it never really happened. In reference to World War II it is a heartless thing to say. But saying it before World War III becomes this profound thing, a cry for peace.

I don't think you have any words of wisdom that are going to be smarter than what I have to say to be honest. You can say I'm here fighting for peace, but that's just a lie. There are going to be people who understand that I'm here asking for peace, give peace a chance. I'm here writing poetry.

Gomp, I really respect you, but don't you dare say I'm fighting anyone. I'm really trying not to. I'm really trying to get us out of World War III before it starts. You can laugh all you want, but crazier things have happened. I'm not fighting for peace, you're here fighting yourself to say stuff like that about someone trying so hard. Go read what's on that blog. You can discount it all you want, but that doesn't mean you're right doing it. You can make up every lie under the sun, but there's always going to be the truth, there's always going to be the artistry, that excitement of youth. There's much more love in the poetry than hate. Anyone who really knows what they are talking about knows that. I think you're a bright guy, but not when you go around saying things like you said. My writing has a lot of peace in it. I really prayed it did.

I don't think he was either. I wish I knew what he meant though. He can suggest I was fighting all he wants, but sooner or later he's going to have to face the reality that I was here asking for peace, writing poetry about it.

"But don't you dare say I'm fighting anyone,"

Or whaddya gunna do? Right a fucking poem about how people misinterpret what you say? Your inability to interpret what they say?

Yeah, well, ... first off, you think you're tight because you can "artfully" spew out ambigious statements?

If your poetry was really awesome, you could come in talking as if you're some literary genius, but honestly you didn't say anything revolutionary... so you come here and you post your emotionally-perpetuated discourse; for what purpose? For the purpose of feedback, so you get some feedback, and you don't like it because your skills in data interpretation are lacking, (further indication of communication-related personality flaws, in which case you shouldn't be writing poetry) so YOU immediately, if anyone preceeding me did, begin to provoke somebody into some lesser form of contention, but contention nonetheless...

So now you're going to get direct criticism from me, I left no room, or at least attempted to leave no room, for misinterpretion.

You use the words "angels," "heaven" and "God" quite frequently, as well as "prayer."

Your usage of words typically associated with that which we do not entirely understand, and thus connotative of something "deeper," will not fool me into thinking you a visionary.

This "movement" (although I shouldn't state that, as I can't clearly define what the "movement" is, other than it doesn't agree with the current US presidential administration) does not need emo'd out poets, we need concise societal critics, authors, professionals and people with a knack for explaining things, which are so horribly obvious to some, to those who cannot see...

Damned it, we need to quit lollygagging around and focus on the neurological workings of the human encephalon, as that appears to be the source perpetuating this mess...
--digression--

Point is, you're not that good at poetry, so quick acting like all fussy when a misinterpretation arises; it's fucking poetry, it's meant to be misinterpreted, if you want to actually get a point out there, one sits down and articulates his ideas in a manner which is intended to get your ideas heard... instead of trying to sound linguistically apt in the art of flavorful language... (which you're not that good at.)

Yeah... don't worry man, from the sound of it you visit Heaven every other 2 days so things must be just peachy. Maybe Jesus and you can sit down and make some revisements.

(I know most of what I said was probably bullshit, but you came in here posting as if you "knew," so I responded, and my response may indicate I think I "know."

Nobody fucking knows, ok, but I do "know" that your poetry is not that cool, perhaps a slight upgrade in vocabulary from your typical teenage emo poem.)

Dude, you're gunna have to face the reality that he was here asking for peace... writing POETRY about it!

Thank you for making this thread, it gave me the necessary boost this morning, propelling me from the grey world of no-motivation to a greener land filled with goofy people for me to ponder...

You really are a goofball. You're incredibly serious, it kills me, just so serious. (FACE THE REALITY THAT YOU WERE HERE ASKING FOR PEACE, WRITING POETRY ABOUT IT)

Face the reality? And then you go off about lies and "the truth," ... maybe it's your truth, and any infraction upon YOUR TRUTH would thus be catagorized a lie... to YOU.

Get over yourself, that's essentially why I am posting, to help you get over yourself.

I wouldn't have posted any of this if two factors weren't met:

My boredom,
Your apparent self-absorption.

I'm 18.

In my immediate circle of peers, I know of nobody who can exude the degree of literary eloquence I can...

Sometimes I'll scan through things I've written and come upon a grand disquisition I cannot believe I wrote, I read it once again and yes, it makes me feel good, it certainly looks nothing like most of the context spewed forth by any young developing individual.

And I've gotten used to the response most of things I write get, and once again, it makes me feel good. However, being human we are of course prone to flaws, and this extends, indubitably, to communication.

And I've gotten criticism I didn't agree with, but I didn't start going off about the criticiser's "lies" in relation to my immutable "truths."

Because I realize that I, too, suck at many aspects of human communication.

It's one thing to suck at poetry, nobody can, reasonably, attack you for such things...

But sucking at poetry and acting like you've got some grand revelation to bring through it (poetry) are two entirely different situations, and one invites harsh feed-back. Invitation accepted.

That's a lot of made up bullshit. My writing is really something. The times I have tried to be an artist I've been able to come up with stuff the world has never seen. You don't know what you're talking about. Whoever you are talking about isn't me. It's a stereotype of what an artist is that you have because who knows why. Say what you will about my writing, but it was there for you to chop down, to destroy. I created it. I did all the work. You sat and watched acting like you were the authority. It's so absurd. You don't know anything about my career, the poems I've written, the recordings I've done. You don't have any idea what you're talking about. I'm a superstar.

I'm sorry. I don't want to seem like an ass here but I'm gonna have to agree with Herbus. You came here posting for criticism and you got it. If you don't like what others have to say then don't post your work.

But in my opinion your work is nothing great. It just reminds me of some average 5th graders poetry skills. But all that matters in the end is that your happy with it. So just build on top of the criticism you get and make it better.

Herbus hit it on the head. If you were an artist, you wouldn't come here seeking our approval feeding off of it, you need to get past shit like if you want your work to mean something. Without real soul, your poetry is meaningless

Again, the person you are speaking of isn't me. I recorded Sing Sing Dream. I wrote 7:77, The Thought of You, and Stood Up with Love. You are talking about someone else. The hate in you has caused you to be inaccurate about what it is you're seeing. Trust me, I'm never going to believe I was your teacher. I'm well aware you aren't looking to listen to anyone but yourself. I'm well aware of what my art is and what it means if you are or not.

You can say that all you want, but it's a travesty you aren't talking about the beauty of me sitting in my chair believing in myself as a writer. You don't understand the level of creativity involved in what it is you're seeing. You see that I'm an artist and attack me with your dumb stereotypes that have nothing to do with me. I'm a great artist. You can say it isn't true all you want, but you're kidding yourself doing that. I really gave everything. Don't hate me because you didn't. Don't hate me because I tried, or because I was blessed for some reason.
