nop... barely.. im even useing a rack.. the water reaches the bottem part only....like 2-3 inches... definitley less than half of the jar.... definitley.. the same reason i do that is to avoid this problem.. i put it so that it only touches a little of the bottem part... maybe i put the stove on to high, wich made it boil alot... and made its way into the jar... eventhough i used 2 rubberbands.... i dont know... im all ears for suggestions!!!!!!!!

With BRF I did not even put anything on top of the jar just the lid...
And 2-3 inhces sounds way to deep but I could be wrong

that will impode. anyhoo you had the stove on too high it sounds like once its up to 15 psi you can crank it way down since you are only maintaining 257 degrees not beinging it up. was less energy to keep a temp them increase it.
edit: PC shouldn' be steaming the whole time you are likely to also boil all the water out and break you PC.

thanks for the advice man... it had plenty of water though when i took the jars out..alomost the same.. In other words...your saying that once it hits psi 15... just keep it low after wards..??? because now that i think about it... once it got up to 15 psi, i kept it like that for 45-50 minutes...

uhhh ya thats not how you use a pressure cooker man. thats unsafe also just a waste of energy. you gotta turn that down low. also you can get it down to puting less water in once you know how much water an hour of PC'ing will use. the less water you start with the less time it takes to get up to temp and the lower you can have the PC running for the hour.

I run my PC (albeit a small one, 4 quart) on med-low once it gets up to snuff. I have a rack in the bottom and about an inch and a half of water. Water doesn't make it up 1/4 of the jars height....never had any water problems.

I'm not using jars, i use ordinary glass cups, and every time i sealed the cups like you did with the foil on the jars, it just cooked itself into slimy goo, so take a rubber band off and just use tow layers of foil. you must let steam out of the jars. it will do the job. good luck. BTW: lowering the water level will help too.

I have a 23-qt Presto and once it hits 15 psi I turn it down to 4 (on my stove - they're all diff.) to maintain the pressure. Doesn't take much heat to keep the pressure stable once you reach it. Only problem I get are white hard water stains, but a dash of vinegar solves that.
