I have had my poo going for a long time now and it just now contamed at its 5th flsuh. Its brownish looking contam. It just produced some nice sized healthy looking shrooms though. Not a whole lot of it is contamed just its exterior I am performin an autopsy lol. Are they eatable? The cake is so brittle and squishy. Oh and it has no abnormal odor.
Also If I remove the contamed part can I still use it to colonise more poo outside in the ground?

unless its black mold don't worry about it. some black molds produce toxins that can kill. take a yr to make i believe though. but still if you get the black death don't eat those. the rest should be digested no problem.

Aflatoxins are not a contaminant of mushroom cultivation.
Nobody is suggesting to eat mold. It's just that having a bit of mold on the substrate doesn't make the fruits from it toxic. If in doubt, always dry or boil into tea before consuming. If the fruits are dark inside, they could be aborts that bacteria is growing in. Those will definitely give you food poisoning if you fail to dry or boil first. Rotten fruits should be thrown away.
