    #5594667 - 05/05/06 03:27 PM (17 years, 8 months ago)

Ok using the pf tek or any tek would it be feasible to put them in there own individual Ziploc bags to isolate them incase of contams would you need to open them up to allow some air exchange?

question unclear... are you talking about dunking them seperatle in bags? or fruiting them in bags. you can fruit them in bags just like you can a dome slurby cup with tap ove rthe top or a beanut putter jar
but you have to open it and fan just like any FC that doesn't have automated fae

no point yo have a dry verm layer to filter. if you are paranoid go pick up some microspore tape and put a pice over each hole. no possible contams getting in plus you still get gas exchange

I've done it for hundreds and it worked fine. You might want to vent each bag/jar 1/2 way through colonization. By vent I mean turn upside down and open the ziplock...wait a minute and close er back up. I argree with the above comments on not needing the bag if you're using the dry verm layer, but what the hell I thought and it always worked out fine, didn't even slow down the process vs. no bags. A cheap extra precaution. Micropore does work but I saw noticably slower colonization.

Good luck.

it's unlikely that is the cause of his contams...(not putting in a bag) or did he forget the dry verm layer

Anything I say is fictional. Duh.
