The Buckwheat Flour Experiment
    #559442 - 02/22/02 08:33 AM (22 years, 10 months ago)

Having bought copious ammounts of various powders in the past, i decided to compare them in a semi controlled experiment to find out which works best. Hopefully someone out there can try this for themselves and see.

1) Prepared 10 jars of MMGG style substrate. Half made with Dark Rye, the others done with Buckwheat- all had filter disc's. PC'd for 45 mins and innoculated six of 10 jars with one syringe (mystery syringe so far- made from mystery print). Feb 19

2) Placed jars in incubation chamber heated with aquarium heater inside a jar of water.

3) Examined jars (Feb 22). Three DRF jars show signs of growth at innoc points. Largest about the size of a dehydrated pea. The BWF jars, on the other hand show 20% colonization, on all three jars.

I hope to continue to update this experiment through the cycle, but it looks promising.
