Oven pasturization and water evaporation.

This is my first time using poo. Since h poo is 26 miles away and gas is at $3 a gallon, I decided to just buy cow poo from the local garden center. So I bought green thumb composted cow manure. Its black and almost looks like dirt, so I do a 40/60 of poo/vermiculite oversaturate and load into Reynolds oven bags. That goes into an oven for 3 hours and kept at 170. Got an electric oven and that's the lowest setting on it. But even though I over saturated, when its done and cooled its way too dry. So how can I keep the water level at an acceptable level? Here's a lil step by step of what I'm doing. :et me know if something is wrong.
First I inoculate a couple WBS quart jars with a spore syringe and wait for full colonization. Then do a G2G transfer and again wait for full colonization. Pasturize the poo/verm and put a 1/8" layer on bottom, then dump a jar per casing and cover with 1" of poo/verm. After the poo is colonized case with 60/40 coco coir/verm wit a dash of crushed oyster shells. Let colonize for 3 days, remove the foil covering the casings and put into a giant walk-in terarium.
Also I wonder if you can pasturize with a pressure cooker, but I don't see how you could monitor the temperature.

Add distilled/spring/any clean water to the poo until you can grab a handful of the stuff, squeeze it, and hardly get a drop out.
I am not too sure if it was a good move mixing the poo with vermiculite. Yes the cow manure is not manageable enough...but you need to mix it with something that is nutritive, like straw. Somebody please correct me if I am wrong.
No, you cannot pasteurize with a PC.
Next time, when you have more cash, use the 50/50+ casing tek, order Tennstud horse poo online.

With cow manure 50% straw works pretty good.

Hmmm, what about coco coir?

Cow manure and coir is not fluffy enough.

I don't want a pillowcase of wet straw over my sink for 3 days.

Get a rubbermaid cooler (one with a hinged top), get some water to ~170 degrees, dump substrate/spawn/casing in rubbermaid, pour water and close. Leave for an hour or two. Doesn't smell. If you want further info search for FooManShroom, he wrote it (Easy Poo Pastuerization) and I'm too lazy to look

You can soak straw in a bucket. Cut into pieces about 2" cover with a plate and put a weight on the plate to keep the straw submerged.

Right. But all this still doesn't answer my question. How do I keep the moisture content at a perfect level knowing it'll vaporize during the pasturization process.

If you'll get the manure to the exact moisture content for growing, you can put it in a bag or jars and pasteurize in any large kettle or the PC. You want the center of the manure to reach 150F and stay there for an hour. Get a meat thermometer to take the guesswork out. Don't use the oven for the obvious reason that dry heat will dry your substrate. Air is also a poor conductor of heat, while water is an excellent conductor, and your substrate won't dry out if it's in a bag or jars sitting in water. RR
