The people here who are on SSRI's, what is an average dose for you? I'm getting on prozac tomorrow and from what I understand you have to take more mushies to trip.

I'm on 200 mgs of Zoloft a day, but I don't know what the equivalent dose would be for Prozac. While it is true that it takes more mushies to trip, the benefits for me far outweigh this problem.

I am not on SSRIs, but from what I have read mixing powerful mind altering drugs with depression/anxiety is a huge no no as it has the potential to really fuck things up.
It's your life, not going to tell you to suck egss, just as long as you know that's the general consensus...

An average dose for me is 5.5 grams. I am on Effexor, and have been on a variety of different (SSRI) antidepressants for about the last 10 years.
However, it seems to me that I did not develop instant tolerance once I started taking SSRIs. This is probably related to the reason why the effects of SSRIs take weeks, and sometimes longer for maximum efficacy. (That's just been my personal experience, though. Please PM me if your experience is different.)
The tolerance is pretty inconvenient when you consider that I get about 3x fewer doses out of a given quantity. Fortunately, I still get all the same effects.
P.S. With regards to what wombat says, that could be considered a sweeping rule of thumb -- sort of like: "Never take pills with alcohol." But it's too general to be totally accurate. It's dangerous for anyone to take psychedelics if they are currently depressed or anxious. If a person is on antidepressants but is not currently depressed, then there is no danger that I am aware of--though if there is are major issues you are dealing with, you shouldn't be tripping.
- People who are predisposed towards psychosis or schizophrenia are really the ones who should try not to take psychedelic (hallucinogens.)

Land Crab, the trip is still the same?
5.5 grams, what level trip does that give you?
To wombat, I'm not psychotic, but I get bad anxiety attacks. I've done my fair share of psychedelics and rarely have bad trips.

That's right; I haven't noticed any differences in any of the sensory or psychological effects. 5.5 grams gets me to about a level 3.

Holy shit that's unbelievable!! How can you get bad anxiety attacks yet still trip!!?? Everyone I know of (including myself) that suffer any type of anxiety stay away from trips like the plague. I wouldn't touch anything psychadelic and I only get very mild anxiety. You'd think if, in a given person, there was only one thing that could possibly bring on anxiety in the whole entire universe that thing would be a trip.
How do you do it? Have you ever considered that maybe if you didn't trip you wouldn't need the SSRIs?

It's strange, when I am sober my anxiety attacks just appear out of the blue. I can't really pinpoint their cause. On psychedelics I'm very happy and euphoric, everything is wonderful, perhaps this is why I don't get anxious.

Same here. I am anxious, depressed, on SSRIs but like to trip out once in a while. I don't get bad trips anymore...just revelations...now i just need to learn how to deal with life during the 99.9999% of the time I am not on them.
