HOLLAND ?? thinking of moving there

I have been interested in living in holland for quite some time. I love the landscape and the fact that i can grow pot as a landscape feature. I also hear that rolls and other great amenities aren't hard to come buy? eh?
I am curious as to how the price of living compares to a standard us town.? Maybe how much the average house is? I would just like to know some general information about living in holland or the netherlands for that matter.

I too have thought of it. if you need a roomate let me know, it would cut the cost of living in half.

yeah man thanks for the smartass reply. I just wanted some input from people who may be interested in similar things as me. Maybe like some good towns to live in that aren't too far of a drive from things/areas of interest.

Probably the best thing to do is research it. I mean...I dont know, but i'd be pretty willing to bet not many people on here are from Holland or know too much about it as far as living there.

You can find information on practically anything on the web. And if you're looking for feedback from people familiar with the Netherlands, how about looking into some of their web-communities. Just a thought.

Yes your correct, but if he doesn't then hes just another emigrant that cant speak the language.
And Holland has enough of American pot smoking non Dutch speaking emigrants....

If you want to buy a house in Holland expect to pay $250.000 and in a backwater an older house might be $100.000 If you want to have a Herenhuis in the Grachtengordel of Amsterdam you'd better bring a million.
If you want to rent a house in a reasonably big city you can look forward to paying $500-750 every month.
The social minimum is $1.000/month which is absolutely the least amount you need to get by. If you have a job of average income, you will earn $3.000 but low wage often means $1.500
You're allowed to have a few plants in your GARDEN which you grew from SEEDS and only feed sunlight, ferts and water from a watering can. If you POSESS a decent quantity of weed however (lets say a shoebox full from your outdoor plants) or if you GROW weed with lights several nice things will happen:
1..permanent criminal record 2..serious jailtime and a hefty fine 3..eviction from the house you rented
Weed in Holland is NOT legal people! We have a gedoogbeleid (tolerance policy) which says its illegal but on a small amateuristic scale you might get away with it.
You can grow your own shrooms amateuristically for your own use, but dried mushrooms are Schedule 1 (opiumlaw list 1) hard drugs.
Holland isnt the pot paradise it was in the 80s and early 90s
Right now the rightwingers are in power so they're trying to reform drug laws to do it the USA way and we have the toughest immigration laws of Europe. I dont want to discourage you but unless you are rich and from a first world nation (yes, both) your chances are slim to be allowed to go live here.
Holland isn't Shangri-La. Not anymore.

That is disappointing to hear. While I have often daydreamed of living there, it really doesn't have much to do with drugs. I am just starting to get very fed up with the priorities people have in the U.S. The whole place is starting to feel suffocating to me and Holland seemed like a nice place where the standard of living was still good but people acted more like real people.

motherfucker I pay $700 for a ghetto ass jr. 1 bedroom here in Los Angeles. To think that would get me a house in Europe....Arrrhh.
Is that Euros or American dollars? I always thought land in europe was expensive. 100,000 will buy you a trailer in America.

Wiccan AFAIK know the penatlies on soft drugs crimes aren't that high http://wetgeving.snow-white.nl/
Having a 100g of weed on your person could net you a 500 euro fine. 5kg could get you a 176 days in jail.
Having 100 plants could net you a 2150 euro fine. Lot of money but no jailtime.
I made a thread about this topic a few days back http://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php?Cat=&Board=chillout&Number=5559771

Not high compared to America! You'd still get evicted if you rented a house and if you are in the process of becoming Dutch you may get thrown out of the country.
The prices I named are converted to U$D.
