First Florida Find! And you'll never guess where...
    #5590260 - 05/04/06 02:05 PM (17 years, 8 months ago)

On Tuesday, May the 2nd, I found 2 medium sized, sun-dried psylocibin cubensis in Tampa FL!

I work outside and found these cubes actually growing in someone's front lawn! As I came upon them, I immediately noticed the purple spores deposited all around the sun beaten caps, and thought to myself, "No way!" Sure enough, as I bent down to inspect them it became apparent that these were cubes.

The lot was in a neighborhood where each lot was 300x200 at least. It was sort of a horse community with stables and such. I imagine that there was old horse poo in the grass which it grew off of, or the soil was manure enriched. However, I only found 2 in an isolated spot near the road. (about 10 feet off the pavement)

Now if it would only rain in Florida...
Pics to come!

Then why does central FL suck for hunting? Its more south and should be more humid! I heard there is a la nina which means a dry start to the summer and hurricane season will be really intense (lots of major storms and rain). The rain is good, hurricanes = bad.

I know...I retract that statement completely. I've been out hunting quite a few times. Found stuff every now and then, but had to toss almost all of them for one reason or another. 3 times chased by a cow (no good), 2 times the owner woke up because of his loud stupid dog, and 4 or 5 times I didn't find anything. There is a place up the street from me that I tried about 2 weeks ago. One of my friends from work has been there a bunch of times and last year found 50 big ones in a few hours! When Iwent a few weeks ago, it was still pretty dry, but the field is kinda unkept. So there are tons of brown piles everywhere! It didn't rain much this month either and finally poured all yesturday. Today's temperature is perfect, but the humidity is still around 33%. Would it even be worth me going given the circumatances? I don't want to be dissapointed and find nothing, but if there is a good chance it would be a good hunting night I'd head out and let you all know how it turned out

Yea man...Just because it's in a cow field doesn't mean it's a cubie! Always...I mean ALWAYS...get an ID on a mushroom before you put it in your body. Some look like cubie's, but might not be what you think they are! Anyways, Went out last night to my field. I spoke with a friend that went there last summer...apparently it's a pretty popular, high yeild, field. It poured rain the night before last and last night there wasn't a single shroom. It was perfect temperature all day (between 64-87 I think), but the humidity was at a low 33% because it was the first rain we've had in a long while. I'm kinda tired of going out and not finding anything!
