What God doesn't want

God does not want to be worshipped.
God is an anonymous benefactor, and would prefer to remain that way.
God only wants his people to know his way.
So that they too can become Gods in their own right.
So know the white
keep to the black
and be the pattern of the world
that is all.

Great song, but Bob was talking about Haile Selassie. I don't know if I care to go down that road.

What makes you think he was reffering to him and not man in general? He made his views clear in redemption song
"Non but ourselves can free our minds"
DB, haille is the founder of Rastafarism. They see him as being their Jesus or Bhudha or whatever. He was an African.
After Bob visited Zimbabwe and saw how absolutely shitty Africans were living he changed his tunes about going back to the Motherland. He was like, "My Brodas! You dun wan be goin bac der mon. It sucks"
He even ended up up dropping most of his Rebel Rasta against the man posture, after spending more time in the Western World and just thinned it all out to One Love, One Heart, lets get together and feel alright.
Marley Rocks!
He grew a lot throughout his music career.

That's interesting to know about him going back to Africa. The situation there is appauling, especially considering how we live. We've become greedy to the exclusion of all others. Perhaps this is just social Darwinism, but as a species it strikes me that we ought to be far more evolved than that, but I suppose not?

You have no idea what God wants.....you have no idea if God exists. The things you point out are things that specific people want.
-------------------- "A warrior is a hunter. He calculates everything. That's control. Once his calculations are over, he acts. He lets go. That's abandon. A warrior is not a leaf at the mercy of the wind. No one can push him; no one can make him do things against himself or against his better judgment. A warrior is tuned to survive, and he survives in the best of all possible fashions." ― Carlos Castaneda

God has no interests of his own, but instead takes upon the peoples' interests as his own.

sorry, I should have posted this in the mysticism forum. I didn't realize the discussion was going to turn this way.
but, really taoism is a Philosophy, not a religion, and the Tao teh Ching repeatedly says that god is selfless, that he rears his people but lays no claim to them. That is why we are free. That is also why evil exists. The possibility of evil is the price of free will. I think most logical people would agree to that.

I like Taoism. I don't really hear them use the God word. God is way too human a concept to ascribe to Tao in my understanding. You can't really name Tao is my understanding. It's beyond human understanding. When we say God, most people get a specific idea about what that is. In trying to get your head around Ultimate Tao, that idea seems to get in the way of understanding something impossible to understand.

I think most logical people would agree to that.
Most logical people would have no reason to profess a contradictory, arbitrary belief in the first place.

It's funny when people think they understand how gods thing with their little orange of a brain. Even if something like god doesn't exits, it's people who have defined god as something superior in intelligence to humans. So how can a being of lower intelligence have discussions about how a being of higher intelligence thinks. One thing is for sure, it doesn't think like humans do, just as an adult like S.Hawkings doesn't think like your little baby nephew.
