Hmmm.... I used to consider Dr. Dukes database a very good source of information on plant actives....
While im sure the identification of the alkaloids are pretty right on, Im not so sure how they determine what constitutes an 'active' chemincal.....

as they have DMT listed 'no activety reported....

"N,N-DIMETHYLTRYPTAMINE Plant: DUKE1992A

No activity reported."

I think its just some things were/are overlooked in the database....

Both hallucinogenic and hallucinogen are on the list of searchable actives..... DIMETHYLTRYPTAMINE is listed as hallucinogenic and only under one acacia specie....

Yet, N,N-DIMETHYLTRYPTAMINE listed as contained in many plants (such as mimosa hostillis) but is listed as inactive

Also, no mention of THC in cannabis.......

So i guess that this sort of thing is either not imperitive to their mission statement or the database is just not quite completed

Come on!Here it is http://sun.ars-grin.gov:8080/npgspub/xsql/duke/plantdisp.xsql?taxon=204

Plenty of it :Tetrahydrocannabinol ,and the delta 9's.

My advice for Duke's database would be to use it more as a qualitative tool. That means see what a plant contains and use other sources to check a substance's activity. Also concentration in the plant is crucial. It may contain the X material but in what quantity? Duke has info on that but generally lacks it...

So,dont use it as your sole investigation source. Its good, very good, but has its limitations.

Hmmm ,if i follow the link it tells me "species not found in database".

Here,bookmark this : http://www.ars-grin.gov/duke/

I tend to use the "List chemicals and activities for a Plant". I have dabbled with the other search methods but thats what i use 90% ,at least for hitting up qualitative data.

Ok, I see now....

apparently the first option of "Chemicals and activities in a particular plant."

and that last one in green that you listed "List chemicals and activities for a plant."

will take you to different results......
