Getting rid of scars

ok, sunday night i got completely fucking wasted and for some reason thought it would be a good idea to press the end of a hot clippa lighter onto my arm and burn a smiley face imprint (if you've seen them you'll know what i mean) into it... three times. i was wrecked so i didnt feel shit, i just thought it was funny, but at the time it never crossed my mind that they might scar permanently. retarded, i know, you dont need to tell me.
anyway, does anyone know if there's any way to get rid of or at least minimise the visibility of these fucking things? i was thinking perhaps if i graze the shit out of them with sandpaper or something similar i could make a scab that would just heal over... are scars still visible when you tattoo over them?
im expecting harsh shit from people over this and i guess if worst comes to worst i've learned a lesson and acquired a permanent reminder of the fact that i do stupid shit when mixed with alcohol and that my actions have consequences... but anyway, five shrooms for anyone who can help me hide the scars of my idiocy!

Scars from burns are pretty nasty. Besides cosmetic surgery, there's no quick solution. Rub some vitamin E oil on them every day and eventually they'll fade (depending on how bad the scaring is). It took about 6 years for a scar I had under my eye to heal.

for burns aloe vera is excellent. i belief that it is aloe vera which fire fighters use on burn victims. so ive heard, i could be wrong, but look it up and im sure youll find that its generally accepted that aloe vera is the thing for burns.
also look into some skin creams which have vitamin E and nutrients, should help as well i think. but do some research of your own, some say that for certain wounds certain creams are bad while others are good. example, everywhere i look they say aloe vera is good for burns. and for cuts or scabs or tattoos they say that aloe vera is bad...
so if you just have the burn, use aloe vera, if you end up grazing it with sandpaper (which you really shouldnt) you should not use aloe vera.
and no, lol, grazing it out with sandpaper will just give you an even bigger scar...
and i believe that tattoos can cover scars but you should be careful with that, you might end up with a bumpy tattoo and whether the tattoo would be different colors right where the scar is i dont know, but i was told that the same colors of tattoo ink used on different color skins changes the final color of the tattoo ever so slightly, so the scar might have such an effect. again, might wanna talk to a few tattoo artists about that, whether they have seen anyone who has done that (and ask more than one guy...). but personally i dont think its worth getting a tattoo just to cover a tiny little scar which will fade with time anyway... (and you might end up getting an even dumber tattoo which you will later on hate...

lol at you, i mean LOL @ YOU!!!!!!! best way to heal scars, barring plastic surrgery and skin grafts, is to leave it alone, and not be so silly next time, u see what i said in that other thread! uv lights can be dangerous, but so is a lighter in that hands of an idiot lol no offense intended mista
regardless of what you have been told, clipper lighters leave a very minor scar, it will heal unless your genetics are seriously slow to do so. DO NO SAND PAPER THE AREA i mean jesus christ buddy lol!!!!! if your that worried about leaving a scar on ur arm, why not just cut it off at the shoulder, no1 will seee ur scar then!
If you worried that people will see the clipper scar on your arm and think your a fool, you bloody well should be. lol no seriosuly, makeup could probably cover it if u can be arsed, funny that someone who is willing to scar themselves with a clipper lighter should actually give a shit about people seeing it tho

I couldn't give a shaving of a shite about what other people think when they see it, i'd just prefer not to see it myself. As i've said, it was a foolish thing to do, but thankyou for reiterating that point.
I had considered cutting off my arm but unfortunately i need both arms available to me for when i'm injecting petroleum into my testicles.

start wearing a frock - people won't notice your scar so much then.
or you could try vit a,c,e and zinc, also silica (horsetail) and take some siberian ginseng - should be looking better after a month

To be honest they're not really that bad, i just thought i'd ask because they're in an area where i've been considering having a tattoo done in the past and i'm mainly wondering if this spur of the moment drunken tomfoolery would effect the outcome. (Dont worry im not just going to get one to try and cover it up!).
Good advice though guys, thanks

If it's a small scar and it stays then cosmetic surgery might be an option, though very expensive. What they do is cut out the scar and then stitch the skin up neatly. Then you end up with no scar or a very slight line.
I also have a stupid scar. I was on vacation in a park, really drunk, tired and smoking a cig. I fell asleep and my cig rested on my stomach 4cm away from my navel. I woke up quicky enough but it was too late. It's an oval 1cm scar and hasn't really healed yet. It was from May last year. I hope it clears up a bit, it looks pretty silly. Might try those creams.

I don't have anything helpful to say, but you could always have a tattoo guy color the "eyes and smile" parts black then draw a circle around em and fill it in with yellow so they look like " ", it might be kinda punk.

OK... they're bad at the moment cos you just did them. Give them chance to heal! If you still have big scars in a few months or when they have healed, then consider a tattoo (especially if your have smiley scars!) And next time you do something like this... make sure you do it on your foot where would see (or dare to get close enough to look)!

The more you mess with it, the more likely it will scar. Leave it alone, other than hydrogen peroxide and neosporin to keep it clean. Once it has healed completely, if there is a scar, then it can be removed or reduced by a dermatologist.

Cocoa butter's the shit.
It will definitely help to reduce signs of scars and stretch marks. Lots of guys I know use it for their stretch marks.
Grab your nuts and go to a Body Shop to pick some up. It's well worth it. Either that or have a girl friend go and buy some for you. My arm pits have little red marks that look like fissures or something... your typical fucking stretch marks. Thank god for cocoa butter!!!

my friend did a worse stunt scarring himself. he was wasted and decided to brand a heart onto his chest above his real heart. so now there's a scar in the shape of a heart on his chest and the skin tissue is raised up about 1/4-1/8 inch and is all red. pretty fucking funny if you saw it.

Wat everyone has said basically.. If its still open though do NOT rub any creams or oils into it!! Let it heal before u do that.. if u think its getting infected, put some colloidal silver on it. Only once its healed use the oils suggested. My definite favourite and proven is Rose Hip oil. I found it better then vit E. I got rid of a 2nd degree burn that covered my whole arm with Colloidal silver and Rose Hip oil, while taking things like silica and Fish oils internally, remeber that a burn is inflimation to the skin, so nourishing oils that are anti inflamitory will be good.

With the exception of vitamin E and cocoa butter (both of which are minimally effective) I wouldn't take the rest of the advice given here. No offense to anyone.
Since it is so new, keeping it moisturized while it is still open is paramount. If it is no longer an open sore, you need to get two things.
Merderma or a like product and Neosporin Scar Solution (silicone strips) They sell it at just about every store with a personal care section. It works mainly through the action of silicone. It's not understood exactly how it does this, but probably because it tricks the skin into perceiving it has already healed and that it is a much deeper layer of skin than it actually is. Since all skin starts out undamaged and is actually free from blemishes it basically grows into whatever it is replacing. From my understanding, a scar you've had for years is probably completely new, or none of the original cells that made it up still exist. They have long ago shed.
When you're young, this ability is strongest. It's why children usually heal much better. Over time, damage from UV rays, environmental damage, and oxidative stresses cripple the skins ability to heal itself effectively, so scaring becomes worse.
I would use both of these products in conjunction even through they work through nearly the same action. It's cheap enough I think it's worth the added cost. I recently had a cyst and a melanoma removed and had the wounds stitched up. Because I'm a stubborn ass, I didn't stop working out as I was told to do and ended up pulling my stitches, leaving a big open hole in both cases. On the first, which was actually the worst of the two wounds, I used both products religiously without fail. The scar is now barely visible. It's completely flat and nearly the same color as my surrounding skin. The other was treated a little more haphazardly, partly because of my laziness and part because it directly in the center of my back and much harder to reach. It didn't heal nearly as well leaving a very noticeable indention in my back and a much darker color. I started being diligent on it a few months after I had quit treating it and made a very noticeable improvement though it still needs some work.
If that fails, a dermatologist can inject hydro-cortisone into scar tissue and that breaks it up to try and give it a second chance to heal.. There is also something else that can be injected but it escapes me right now. Again, time is of the essence here and the sooner you act the better. I would use the treatment I proposed for 12-14 weeks diligently and then seek the advice of a dermatologist if you're not happy with that. Don't wait as you'll make the treatments less effective over time.
If that fails you can then seek the help of a plastic surgeon to cut the tissue out and reduce the visibility of the scar.
Good luck.

Erm.. no offense, but whenever i read stuff like, its not understood exactly how it works, i just think magnet therapy, placebo, waste of money, scars are part of life, leave it alone, it'll disapear. Or get a tat over it like u were planning, dont be fooled into wasting your money on a product when they cant even explain how it works, and never accept annecdotal evidence.

The silicone sounds like a good idea. http://www.worldwidewounds.com/News/News2002.html
Also, Lugol's iodine- one drop applied topically twice daily. You can probably find it at your a local pharmacy.
Iodine is known to heal injuries to the skin quickly with little to no scarring and is the best antibacterial agent known.
As for anecdotal evidence, you must use good judgement and caution when evaluating any claim, but part of common sense is realizing that many traditional home remedies are effective, but aren't formally studied as there is no commerical angle to exploit.
