Poll: Where will the U.S. be with regard to drug laws in 15 years?
    #5587224 - 05/03/06 06:50 PM (17 years, 8 months ago)

As it is currently, most of the drugs people talk about on here are those that are not only illegal, but placed in the Schedule I category, which carry the stiffest penalties and sentences. Remember that the Controlled Substances Act (1970) implemented drug scheduling; (Schedule I through Schedule V). Drugs are (supposed) to be classified according to how harmful and medically viable they are.

Schedule I drugs must meet the following criteria:
(A) The drug or other substance has a high potential for abuse.
(B) The drug or other substance has no currently accepted medical use in treatment in the United States.
(C) There is a lack of accepted safety for use of the drug or other substance under medical supervision.

Schedule I drugs include MDMA, DMT, LSD, psilocybin, peyote (mescaline), marijuana, and heroin. Note that cocaine and methamphetamine are Schedule II.

Do you think any of the drug schedules or drug laws will have changed by the year 2021?
Will any of the drug laws or scheduling have changed, 15 years from now?
You may choose only one

it wont be nearly that long before the neocons determine that anyone that gets caught with a spliff in their mouths is a terrorist subject to indefinite military detention without a trial...by 2021 its safe to say that it would in fact take much less than possession of marijuana to evoke harsh and arbitrary imprisonment without any legal process whatsoever...

or else it could be neither of the above .."laws" cannot "skyrocket" since neocons dont recognize the rule-of-law..but the shit definitely wont be "legal" (ie permitted) either...

I think they will have changed, but I fear it will not be for the better.
