This is a combination of an experience story, and a trip tip. . . This is my ideal way of tripping, and have taught my friends this and they are all into it as well. Basically, this is HARD tripping, and shouldn't be taken lightly, as I'm sure the potential for a bad trip is quite high. (I came really close a few times, but pulled out of it) . . . Now, this is not one of those "Let's take a really high dose and confront the fear" . . nooooo . . . what I'm talking about is visuals. How to get such intense visuals that you can hardly stand them, but the fact that you know you are pushing yourself to the limit just gives you the ultimate feeling of euphoria. . . . . . This is intended for the raver-type person (I made a post here earlier about tripping at a rave and not enjoying it, but a lot of things have changed since then, mainly my emotional state, and I'm having no problems) Here's what you need: 1. An extreme passion for HARD electronic music (most people will say "some people like other kinds of music" . . . well, yes, but not for this kind of trip, it needs to be HARD) any kind of hardcore, or hard trance (most of the german stuff) even some of the hard house or techno. Most of all, the music should NOT have vocals . . . vocals bring you back to reality too much . . . the occasional line like "Out of Control(or whatever)" before the bass kicks in is OK, but singing and extensive lyrics will distract you. . . Goa and Psy trance are fun for this kind of thing, but its more of a semi-intense, but extended experience . . .so hit the HARD stuff 2. A rave/club playing this kind of music . . . clubs are not really an ideal place, seeing as security at most places doesn't like seeing people as tripped out as you're going to be if you do this right . . . and also some raves in certain countries are more strict than others, so only do this if you know no one's going to care that you are floating in a sea of rainbow colors 3. Good lighting . . . the lighting doesn't have to be excellent, but it should at least be rapidly changing, and at best, have VERY bright, VERY intenses strobes 4. One or two fellow trippers 5. Minimal clothing . . .wear stuff that will not get in the way, and stuff that you won't get hot in . . . once you reach the state I'm trying to describe here, you won't want to stop dancing, so drink a bit of water before attempting this (you're going to want to forget that you exist, and having big heavy clothing on won't help) 6. A clear conscience (Ha ha, easier said than done, right? Do your best, there's plenty of other posts/documents on how to do this, so I won't go into it) 7. VERY comfortable shoes (blisters really suck, and you're going to be dancing hard here) Optional, but highly recommended: GLOWSTICKS!!!! and a friend who can do poi. OK, now on to how to actually do this. It's more playing around with the way your mind works than what you actually physically do, but I'll try my best to describe how I do it. First off, this is a high dosage thing. Although I've found this works somewhat on low doses, to achieve such a huge head rush, you'll need a high dose. Aim for level 3-4 (I've never encountered 5, but this is pretty damn close to what I'm guessing 5 feels like) Generally, I will dose just before entering a rave/club. This lets me enter sober, not fucking up anything at the door if its a club, but also letting me get familiar with my surroundings if its a rave. This also eliminates the risk of getting caught with drugs and being totally fucked over and going to jail. Your friend or two should dose just as much as you do, no more and no less. Now, the whole point of this is to become the music, totally lose reality, and become a slave to the beat. This isn't much of an enlightening experience, its just an amazing experience. (That's why I wouldn't consider it level 5) This is only going to work if you're totally into the music, so make sure you choose the right dance floor. Now, go with your friends out onto the floor you have chosen and start dancing, but not heavy, just feel the beat. After a little while you should start feeling the onset of the shrooms. Gradually pick up your pace, and move as close to the lights as possible. Now, you should get your friends to clear a little space for you, because what you do next can get kind of crazy. Don't clear too much space, and don't get in anyones' way, if you're taking up too much room, you'll piss people off and ruin that wonderful vibe we like to call PLUR. So find the balance. Now comes the fun, and intense, part. Close your eyes, and dance around very slowly. Right now you'll want to dance very smoothly. This is when you start playing with your brain. You need to try and lose everything. Forget who you are, where you are, or what you are. But remember why you're there: the music. One thing I've found helps is to listen very carefully to the music, and try and pick out individual instruments, which is somewhat easy for me, because I'm a musician. You'll probably get CEV's related to however your mind percieves the instrument. Pretty soon, you'll feel as if all that's there if you floating in a sea of sound. If this gets too intense for you, slowly open your eyes and talk to one of your friends . . . opening your eyes too fast gives a wierd shock of reality which you don't want right now (you want it later :-)) . . .if you acheive it on your first try, good, if it takes a few tries, fine, but keep at it, and keep those eyes closed. Now, the climax of it all. . . Gradually start dancing faster and faster, but keep it quite a bit below your limit . . .dance at about 70% of your effort. Now what you're looking for is a good long break in the song . . . if you've been doing this right, you should have been moving the entire time. When you hit the break, stand completely still, arms to your sides, stand straight up and look, with your eyes closed, straight up into the sky of fantastic colors. You should be overwhelmed with a feeling of complete peace and calm, and then, everything will change . . . This has to be timed right, so, hope that the song doesn't come back in and break again, or else you have to start over again. (Doesn't matter though, you have plenty of time, and you can do this as many times as you want) As soon as the song comes pounding back in, open your eyes as fast as possible and go fucking crazy. I like to call it "frenzy dancing". lock your eyes in one position and swirl your head around in as many directions as possible, jump around, flail your arms, move as MUCH AS POSSIBLE. (This is why you wanted to clear a bit of space) You should be overcome with the intenseness of reality, thousands of colors, dancing happy people everywhere, and just an indescribable feeling of euphoria . . . To have even more fun, you got the glowsticks . . . . have your friends be ready with the glowsticks for when you're about to blast out in your frenzy. . . after a while of doing this with some friends you should be able to tell when eachother are ready to frenzy, so you'll get the timing right. Anyway, what you do is get as close to the person hard tripping as possible and flail the glowsticks in their face . . . the colors are crazy . . . . strobe lights make this more intense than ever . . . I can't really describe anything else, no one can, its jus total fusion with the music . . . .anyway, after you dance yourself out of breath, stop, and take a look around, smile to yourself, and repeat as many times as you want. It's also just amazing to see your friends trip this hard too . . . you just think to yourself "wow, he/she is the music, and I'll be there soon" I've done this up to 12 times in one night, although I usually average around 4. . . . The main element here is your state of mind of course, and I probably described it better to my friends than on here, but it was worth a shot anyway . . . .any other similar trip tips for raves and music would be highly appreciated as well as suggestions on how I could do more intense things to my own trips . . . . . .
