Ok I am saoking my rye rite now and they wil be done in 7 minutes. Just went to get tin foil and I am out. Do I need to cover the jars with tin foil? Or is that just an extra step???

It's mandatory, so you have to make a run to the store. Don't skip the foil. The lid of your pc is exposed to the cool air in your kitchen. That means when the steam hits your lid, it will cool off, and condense back to water, where it will drip(rain) back onto the top of your jars. If there is no foil, the water that rains down from the lid will leak into the jars, ruining your moisture content. RR

Well, it depends on how your jars are made. If they are like the 2 types I use, I NEVER cover with foil, and have NEVER had a jar contam.

Could you explain the way the jars are made in the first pic and how they are inoculated?

Materials: RTV Silicone Aquarium Tubing Polyfil 1/4in drill
Make 5 holes in a lid... 4 are for innoc, 1 is for tubing Cover outer 4 holes with RTV Hold tube in center hole while you RTV it in place Let dry... Stuff polyfil in end of tube The blue spots around the piping is RTV. Makes nice self healing innoc sites.
