lately Ive been havin trouble gettin jars to fully colonize without contams, they get bout half way then i shake em then the rest goes bad, and they grow really slow like 4 weeks and there only half way, the temp is at 86ish too. how can i make em colonize faster?? i got a new syringe the big ass 35 cc ones, could i just squirt a bunch in there then shake um up? would this promote growth everywhere, or what?

use a magnetic stirrer with incubation temps not exceeding 80 degrees to get good LCs. So no chamber is necessary to promote growth. But i'm sort of confused about the question. In fact, i'm not sure if you're talking about LCs, grains, or BRF.... But, you would be wasting spores if you inoculated your LC with 35cc spore solution . Blue Helix, Agar, and others make and document(with pictures) completely healthy, thick LCs within 2 days. I doubt he uses anymore than 2cc of spore solution to create his. Oh, and check out proper lid construction because if i'm not mistaken FAE is an integral part in making speedy LCs.

try rolling the jar as you inoculate so as much grain as possible comes into contact with the lc. then once growth has been established definitely shake it up real well(repeat every 2-3 days once growth has restablished). use tyvek to provide fresh air exchange through your lid. Don't make the mistake of only using tyvek with no metal lid like i did. it will dry out your grain too fast. other than that, it looks like you be doing everything right. peace and good luck.

maybe your water content is off. slow growth is related to too much water. conatms also are associated with too much water in your grains.
what i do is use 2 cc/ml of mainly mycelium in the syringe (i just squirt out the LC water to get nothing but mycellium or as close as i can get to mostly mycellium) inject 2 cc's/ml's into the jar and shake like mad. another tip is to inoculate in a circular pattern when squirting. helps to spread the inoculum around.
it usually only take a week for the jars to colonize.
