Bouldering
    #5584987 - 05/03/06 09:38 AM (17 years, 8 months ago)

Hey all, I recently dusted off my rock shoes and started cleaning a nice boulder off near my house. I was wondering if there are anyone else that boulders or climbs.

Here are a couple videos of some nice problems, most are definetly a little past my level. I have been climbing everyday for the past week now and can really feel the difference. The first day my hands looked like I took a cheese grater to them.
I also took out some books from the library to work on my technique. Last night I finally topped out on my first problem on the wall, I named the problem 'Wizard Mantle'.

Anyway here are the videos, enjoy!

Dyno project
Skipper roof, very difficult problem!
I love this girl

Lots more videos here

:peace:

We have a pretty sweet climbing wall, bouldering room at school. Its probably the best excersize for your entire body, I know after a day of climbing my entire body aches.

Rockeytop, I know the feeling, I am finally get used to it, just about to head out and clean some more and mess around.

AliceDee, that wall looks amazing, all those pockets, damn, we dont have anything like that around here. Where are you located if you dont mind me asking.

I never got in to doing any technical climbing. Not sure why. After all, this was my backyard for over a quarter of a century...

Here is a couple of pics of 3 guys on a wall when I was up there hiking one day....

Eh,  yawl stone climbers must be earth signs.
For the fire signs we like to talk to burning buildings. those air motherfuckers just like to jump out of planes, and for water signs let's just say they like to deap sea dive like the Ten Tooth.
It's fucking sick just thinking about how much thrill it must be.
But it not my thing. Too risky. I'll take a blowtorch instead.
I'll weld me a masterpiece, while you climb stones and find peace.
I garden and forage to help pay my lease

Woohoo, thanks for all the replies everyone, I am glad there is a good number of us climbers here.

So after my session yesterday afternoon, I completed another problem on the wall, name it Jolly Roger. This new one is significantly harder that the first. I nailed Wizard Mantle first try yesterday, but my hands are fucked, so raw and cut. I got a nasty flappy one on my pinky and can barely bend it, ah well, maybe a reason for a day off from climbing, but then again, maybe not

I went to the climbing shop and got myself a new chalk bag, it sure helps, my hands get so sweaty.

I wish I lived in a nice bouldering area, we do have the Skaha bluffs in my town, but there is a lack of good problems.

I really do need to get a crash mat, my birthday is coming up, maybe I can ask my parents to go halfers on it with me.

trauma47645, I wish I was closer to your area, I'd love to climb in the gunks.

Check out the video, very intense

when I was a little kid we used to climb all over the boulders in our back yard. We had a whole half of a mountainside littered with the things!

God I wish I could be 6 years old again...

Whats up everyone, just got back from another little session. I decided to go for a little hike and see if I could find some more problems. I found a nice clean, ~12 foot high face, there isnt alot of options on it, a nice ledge at foot level and some bomber holds on the top. I found a neat undercling grab and a teeny weeny ledge to crimp for a starting position. Then a little dyno up to another crimp ledge and then on to a sloped grab. Once at that point, the rest is pie because of the top.
Got kind of bored of that one because of the lack of options, so I went down the hill further and found a shit load of nice walls. One in particular has a great hanging start and goes maybe a good 20 feet up, I will go back tonight and give it a good clean and then try it out.

The Horsepens would be an amazing place to go, I have a long list of places that I would like to climb at.

:peace:
