an idea for mush storage

If I were to make little tea bags out of tyvek and fill them with CaCl2...would this help preserve dried mushrooms? Would CaCl2 retain the water?

tyvek isn't very moisture permeable.  part of the reason it makes a good filter, doesn't let moisture out.  put any desiccant in the world inside a bag made of it, and you're kind of defeating the purpose

CaCl2 can be used as a desicant... that's what DampRid is made out of.  But you're gonna want to make those little bags out of a coffee filter or something that will actually let the moisture through.

They sell empty tea bags to make loose tea with.... those would probably be perfect.

I would suggest silica gel (clear kitty litter). I tie a small handfull up in a coffee filter and store it in a jar with the shrooms.
