How do vacutainers work and fit in with LC jar lids?

Thus far I've been using LC jar lids with two tubes stuffed with polyfill, and they've been doing great. I've also seen pictures with vacutainers (supposedly, I'm not sure if it's the lids only or what) but I'm not sure what they do other than take blood. I assume they can be punctured multiple times? The reason why I'm ansking is because if I'm right, it would mean less mess and no need to extract in a Glove Box.

Vacutainers have negative pressure in them...When you fill it up (needle or w/e) it gets sucked in...
Anyways, yeh, you can stick 'em quite a bit,
