Your cases are pinning their first fluch but the case seems too dry and is starting to show signs of it. I heard I should not mist the cases directly but these need it.

Mist tactically-spray around the pins carefully. It's ok to soak your casing layer while it's flushing, but to try avoid misting the pins themselves.

Just wondering why you're not supposed to mist the pins? I assume this goes for pins on BRF cakes as well? I've been lightly misting (with pure spring water, no H202 in it) directly on the pins & mushrooms on my cakes and havent noticed anything detrimental, in fact, it seems like it's making them grow bigger. Just wondering why it's not a good idea to mist the pins. thx

If you have a coolmist blowing in your fc, mist away. Blast them if you want. Better would be to have a fine mist blow upwards and gently land on them and the casing of course. Pins get soaked in nature all the time. What you don't want is to soak your pins and have the water sit there and rot them. That will happen with slow air movement.

i mist the surrounding casing layer but prolonged moisture on the caps causes aborts.
so you can soak the surrounding casing material but stay away from spots with mushies and avoid leaving puddles on the mycelium.
good luck

I always use a hand sprayer (I've yet to purchase a mister) and just spray the wall of the FC. With a fine mist, it hits the wall and then vaporizes. Its a touch better than spraying directly.
I've heard the reason not to spray pins directly is because it can damage the fruitbodies. Not sure if its true or not though.
