Hey everyone.I went to the nursery today and picked up a few things.
I got a large ginger root.I want to plant this but I would also like to cut a peice off for culinary and medicinal use. Will the root still grow if I cut off a small portion?
I got a lavender plant as wel because my seeds never sprouted.
I also got a pepper plant.
But the reason why I am making this post is because I purchased two different delosperma plants. One of them is delosperma cooperi and the other is delsperma congestum.
Do either of these plants have any SSRI's present in them?Or for that matter any other medicinaly active or psychoactive compounds?
I will post pictures of my bosseranum's that i grew from seed.I need to make a post for my all of my seed grown plants. But anyway for now i will just show you what I bought today.
Here is the Delosperma cooperi(hardy ice plant) anyone have any info on this?

a small flower

And here is the delosperma congestum.Does anyone have any info on this?

Here is a picture of the lavender.I cant wait for it to flower.I purchased it because the seeds I had never sprouted. And I like alot of lavender in my tea.

And fially my pepper plant.I dont know what kind of peppers though. It didnt have a label.Anyone know?

Well that was my day at the nursery.Hope everyone enjoys the pictures.
I really need some info on these two delospermas!
Here is a pretty cool link I found about some different delosperma species.

I'm not sure about all the species, but I've heard of them being used as stimulants.

Well some species contain most of the same constituants as kanna, which are MAOIS.And also another compound that i dont know what it is that can produce some psychoactive effects. This seperates the delopserma species from the selectium as far as psychoactivity goes.
As far as I know they are not stimulants.

Maybe a simple distillation will remove the nasties?
You have to distill bosseranum and kanna.

Cooperi makes a slight burning sensation in my throat when I chew the sour, red stems. Depending on your tolerance, a throughly chewed mouthful can make you feel pleasant for an afternoon. I'm told the same effect comes from drying and smoking.
Will trade rooted cuttings.

This is very intersting.Perhaps some tea mixed with an MAOI would produce some effects.
The flowers seem to open during the early morning and close in the late afternoon.

Its not. MAOi in combination with SSRi may put you into a coma or fatal in some cases.

The plant is more potent after the leaves have grown to maturity (spring) and have become concentrated, due to lost water (summer). By this time, the stems have turned reddish, and the skins on the leaves are noticably thicker and darker. A combination of sour and bitter flavors, with a burning/spicy sensation in the back of the throat.
While it lasts for awhile, I have no doubt that onset occurs as soon as it is absorbed in the mouth.

Can you go in any more depth about oral consumption?

(Cool pics, ANeway2sayHooray.)
Quote:

Yes, but more subjectively than scientifically.
Chew, chew, chew a raw mouthful for as long as possible. For me, it causes a lightheaded elation which lasts about 5 hours. Involuntary, hazy, visual hallucenations. Onset is gentle. There is no hangover, but a definite sense of coming down.
That was by itself. Certain plants containing the DMT family of chemicals (I have experimented with plenty) will noticeably change the texture of mucous membranes into which they have absorbed. Sometimes, they are oily, minty, or dehydrating. This is in spite of the fact that they are not supposed to be orally active. Well, after chewing these things as a potentiator, these spots in the mouth will become especially tingly after Delosperma chewing. The experience is the same only escalated.
If you're enjoying yourself too much to stay hydrated, your mouth will dry out a bit. A light sip of water will prolong the experience, while a heavy drink will wash it away. For these reasons, I say you can definitely absorb juices through the mouth and throat.
