Just after harvesting...

In my casings I had a rather uneven pinset to begin with due to the fact that out of anxiety I turned on the lights way too early. So, as the rest of my casing caught up and was colonized, the initial spots that were blasted with light much earlier developed mushrooms in the meantime. I now have some areas that have fully grown mushrooms ready for harvesting and the rest of the areas that have recently caught up and are in the final stages of pinning. I know that when I harvest, I should cover up the areas that I picked from with moist casing mix and additionally mist it so its near saturation.
Question is:
1. How do I mist the newly applied casing layer if the areas right beside it are pins that are ready to go?
2. If most pins are formed right before the initial flush (as I gather that they do) then some lay dormant while some become your first flush of mushrooms, how can you patch the areas that you have just picked from, wouldn't you also be covering up dormant pins? Is that a problem?
3. If you have an even pinset, is there any inherent problems with covering the entire surface of the casing with a thin (1/8 - 1/4) inch casing mix between flushes and then thoroughly misting that down?

You may try harvesting the mushrooms by cutting them rather then ripping, so you don't disturb the other pins. You have to make sure to rip it up later when you're harvesting the newer flush or it will rot.

Why not, it's effective. You have three choices.
1.) cut the mushrooms off near the top of the substrate layer.
2.) cut the caps off the mature mushies and leave the stems until the small ones catch up
3.) harvest the whole casing, patch where neccessary, and fruit again.
1 and 2 are your best options, how mature are the smaller mushrooms?

Ok, but say I do it that way, by cutting them at the stems that is, waiting for the other parts to fruit and then tearing out all fullsized shrooms and shroom remnants at the same time, what do I do then? By covering the surface of th casing with a uniform thin layer of casing mix, wouldn't I just be covering up all dormant pins?
That's really the only part I dont understand. From what I understand, it's best to to cover the entire surface with a thin layer of casing mix assuming that you have an even pinset. That way, you can mist the crap out of that thin recently added casing layer without worrying about soaking and matting the mycelium below it. Alas, by doing so you cover all dormant pins on the surface. Do they just grow through the new layer anyways?

I would also harvest the "dormant" or "abort" pins, once you are sure that they will not grow, or the become discolored. Then proceed w/ patching and misting.
