Possibility of coprinus comatus psychoactivity after large injestion?

AFter spending a whole day eating coprinus comatus in various meals I had a very mild feeling and change in my vision - it was kinda weird but very subtle - i tried them again today and the same thing happened but only after Id eaten a large enough amount. It came on about 20 minutes after large injestion (17 large specimens) and lasted about 10 minutes on and off.
Im dreaming right?

Probably... but unless someone has done a full chemical analysis of any shroom, you never know what might be in there in trace amounts. And coprinus are close relatives of psilocybes, and even closer relatives of pans and copes. But, this is a highly regarded edible species that A LOT of people eat, so I'm highly doubtful that the mushrooms caused your trippy effects.
I also personally believe that once you have tripped before, it is very easy to convince yourself that you are in a trippy state, especially if you are feeling 'not quite right' for any other reason. Also, did you drink any alcohol? I think it is more likely that you found a patch of shaggies that had the chemical found in a lot of other coprinus mushrooms relating to alcohol than you found a shaggy with some hallucinogen.
But, the world is a big and wonderous place and you never know... If you've discovered an active shaggy mane the shroomery will bow down before you. Tasty AND Active? Too good to be true.

There are many reports of random edible mushrooms causing these kinds of effects in certain individuals. You may be unique and others eating the same mushroom probably will feel nothing. You may have found your own personal hallucinogen or the strain you are eating is slightly active. I doubt you are imagining it.

I read a report about a coprinus comatus (Shaggy Mane) psychedelic experience.appartently some guy picked them prepared them and ate them with his girlfriend, his girlfriend had what was similar to psilocybe experience. very odd. i picked some shaggy manes recently but did not get around to preparing them and threw them out :/ would have been wierded the fuck out to start tripping off them.

Don't they have an alkaloid called (Coprine?) that induces odd effects when mixed with alcohol?

That is Coprinus atramentarius.
The effrects are similar to antibuse when consumed with alcohol, one will be nauseated and vomit everytime they take a drink for up to 5-7 days after consuming the mushrooms in a meal.
There is no highs associated with Coprinus shrooms.
Also i shoud mention that several doctors in Africa publi9shed a paper in which they claimed indigenous peoples were eating Chlorophyllum molybdites and haveinhg hallucinations and effects similar to Psiloocybe. This of course is the result of misidentification of species. They called them as those who hear and see voices in their African language.
Howevr, Chrlorophyllum molybdites is toxic and in Florida is often picked as P. cubensis off of lawns in the populated areas of the state and is also the number one mushroom resposible for most mushroom poisoning incidents int he State of Florida.

MJ, you wouldn't happen to have any statistics on mushroom poisonings in the state of FL would you?

Its a weird thing. Ive eaten these before but only a small quantity - last sunday I ate a large amount and the next day I did the same and on both occasions there was some mild and short-lasting effect. It was quite different to effects Id associated with Psilocybin/psilocin intoxication - so I cant really explain it. My friend at the same amount at work and no effects at all other than mild stomach discomfort (maybe he was sensitive to this mushroom). Its probably one of those things that if I hadnt actually experienced it myself I would be quite doubtful but I re-tested it again and shit went down twice. I can understand if some people dont believe or dismiss but Im pretty sure that unless I had a random psychoactive shift at the same time that Ive just injested 17 shaggy-manes for the first time in a month.

I did some reading and Workman is quite right - there is a large history of bizarre effects being reported from mushrooms that people consider edible or inactive. Its a weird world i guess...
