Hey all, im new here. Just wanted to ask a few q's.
who has tryed HW? How did they do. How many CC's would you use for a honey jar size cake, (a bit bigger then a penut butter jar). I was thinking 2 cc's?
is there a big temp difference with HW's? I hear they are not really from hawaii but the strain was discoverd there, so just wondering.

No temp difference
Cubensis all call for the same growing parameters.
andd, as for your jar question, can you be more specific as to its size? mL, cups? oh, and perhaps what you will be using in the jar (WBS, BRF?).

brown rice 100% organic which i plan on grinding up. Then i was thinking verminate(sp?) if i can find it, do they sell it at lowes? if not where? Also we have helth food stores, so is there something better i should try.
Also, if i grind the rice and can get verm, when i mix it and put it in the jar, then add the cc's with a foil rap'd around the top, then add another layer of foil to cover the pin prick from spore syringe will i need to preasure cook it? or do u think it will be safe if i just put it in the housing for growth, kept at a good temp/humid. Or is the heating/cooking process a must?

theres no question "if" you can find verm. if you don't, don't bother with brown rice flour, because its not going to colonize.
no, don't use that jar, use tapered jars, preferably half pint size, like has been suggested a zillion times over.... the size is important if you want the thing to ever finish, and the shape is important if you ever want to get your finished cake back out of the jar.
boiling is absolutely the most important part. otherwise your jars will be overrun with a rainbow of molds and the smell of a garbage dump before your spores even get a chance to germinate.
oh, and you put your spores in AFTER you boil. the point of boiling is to kill everything thats in there. if you put your spores in first, that's gonna kill them too.
keep reading before starting, you're missing a lot of pieces here

Lowes and Home Depot have discontinued the sale of vermiculite due to some arsenic crap.. not sure the details.. I always felt they over charged for it anyway.. I get it at my towns local nursery.. Its 9.99 for a HUGE bag..

is that the StaGreen stuff? thats what I use from Lowes... and yeah, its like a mix of huge/medium/fine all at once, not very consistent... not to mention I always find rocks and twigs in it I just grab big handfuls and kind of swish my hands back and forth to break up the biggest chunks, but it still works just fine.

Welcome to the Shroomery!~

Hawaiian Strain of Cubes is not from Hawaii...at least they didn't grow wild there.
The company that was selling them...was from Hawaii.
Pacifica Exotica Spora.
so they named them the PES Hawaiian.
Other companies grew them out and started selling them...and they dropped the PES from the name.
