Cakes to casings question

I've had 4 PR cakes in my terrarium for two weeks now and nothing but they are still looking good just no action. So I decided to try casing tonight. I broke them up in bags like i read and used vermiculite as bottom and top casing in a small rubber maid container, covered them with H2o and 10% H2O2 then put it back in the terrarium. Question was this stupid and if not how long can I expect to wait to see some action thanks anybody

you might want to dunk. if they are fine but didn't poin in 2 full weeks then they are likely just dehydrated. caseing yeilds more though. straight verm sucks.. toss in a bit of dirt. seriously serilise some dirt. it will fill up the big spaces between then verm chunks.

Okay, so this wasn't a bad idea at all. What do you mean by "covered them with H2o and 10% H2O2" ? Covered as in hydrated the vermiculite?
Cakes can easily be saved doing what you've done. Using just a vermiculite casing layer can work out just great (if it's "chunky" vermiculite... can't recall any fine vermiculite casing layer examples). Yes, something more like 50/50 or 60/40 tek is recommended over a 100% vermiculite casing layer though.
Now you must wait it and and make sure your vermiculite stays hydrated (by misting) while there are still no noticeable pins.
Be patient

so I leave it in the terrarium? Do I mist the casing or the terrarium or both, cuz I read somewhere not to mist casing while colonizing. oh yeah should I continue like cakes and give FAE every couple hours or so.How long am I going to have to wait to see shrooms now that I just cased and put it into the terrarium?

casing require a little more of a regulated FAE than cakes do, but if you just fan every 4 hours or so you'll be fine. btw you deff. should have dunked the cakes first

few days to 10 days. SAME AS CAKES but you stopped the fruting by breaking them up and casing. so now you are starting all over again.
