A question of potency...

Ok so I hear that all cubies have the same potency regardless of race, it has to do w/the substrate...
Does this mean that all casings w/just a casing layer will be considerably weaker than boomers grown on poo or straw? Or do these extra nutrients just affect size?

It's what and how you grow,
Compost is better then hpoo and that is better then straw.
A casing layer mainly has to do with yield, size and pin set and not potency.

I'm not sure if I understand the question.. poo and compost def grow the most potent mushies.. but thats not the only thing that effects potency.. I grew several batch's on some tenn stud that were extremely weak.. I believe I got a bad sub strain.. the best thing to do for that is to isolate the strain... instead of doing a multi spore..

yeah, prolly not enough nutrients for anything now that I think about it, WBS is just used to spawn a subtrate like poo or straw right? Sorry I am little retarded, I have read a lot of teks, I just need some clarification on some things...

No the function of the CL (casing layer) is for yields not potency,
WBS/hpoo and WBS/hpoo/w/50/50 casing layer; the deference will be pin set/size and the number of flushes.

Well there not all clones of each other so there will be difference of course.
But I see they dont give scientific data or research behind it.
Why, well it helps to sell, and it is subjective so it's not lying just an opinion, and that is my opinion.

Actually Stivje and Demeiger demonstrated in 1993 that there was a 0.10% difference in the mean potency of two seperate strains or spore races of cubensis - meaning that there are minor differences. That being said the bigger differences do come from substrate - and millet blows the rest away!

from what ive heard poo>straw>rye>wbs>brf as far as potency someone correct me if im wrong. i mean sure you could get some strong shrooms from brf and week ones from poo, but statistically they are in that order right?

substrate has more to do with potency than strain.
