Silicon Gel Bead desiccant

So I've got this silicon gel desiccant...and its in beads that look like little pieces of plastic. No dust. I was wondering if it's okay for me to just dump some of it in a bowl and plop the shrooms to be on top of it.

I wouldn't. Just use a coffee filter to make a pouch, seal 3 edges up with tape, fill with silica and tape up the flap. I just made a couple of em, and they work sweet.
That said, the only thing toxic about silica is breathing the dust. It's basically sand/glass.
(Edit: Google "toxicity of silica gel". The dust is a carcinogen, and the cobalt chloride used in "indicating" type is none too friendly either.)

they will be fine as long as they DON'T TOUCH THE GELL. the desicant is poisonous and can dry up part of your insides so make sure they don't touch it.
it is safe to use but injesting it could be fatal.
i like the coffe filter packet idea. it makes sure they won't touch your mushies.
i wouldn't use it as the soul dehydration technique though. take a long time. best to fan dry for a day and then desicant.

Dont let the shrooms touch the silicon!
Get a bowl or a square tupperware container, get some metal screening like 1/4 inch or so, and a towell.
You're going to want two layers.
Two screen layers, ah hell, just read the MMGG and follow that layout and description, just use your silicone in place of damp-rid. The beads you have should be rechargeable and should change blue or pink when ready or spent.
Not all have the color thing, but most all should be rechargeable.
Good luck, study up. Ever consider a Nesco??

silica gel is poisonous? since when? i know its always labelled "do not eat" but thats like "do not use this appliance under water"... you realize that silica gel = porous sand? now i know some beaches are toxic wastelands but that's a different story
you still dont want them directly in contact because it will dry unevenly, at least separate by a few layers of paper towels... or better yet some mesh/screen as was already reccomended
P.S. i ate a whole packet full when i was in college just to spite those damn warning labels. everyone thought i was going to die. i didn't so much as get an upset stomach.

True! Other than that silica gel is used in many everyday products including toothpastes so take a deep breath and relax guys.
