What in the name of god is this?!?

I noticed this white bubble growing on the cake a few days ago. At first I thought it was going to make a giant mushroom but today I noticed it making some sort of yellow puss.

Could that just be the mycellium creating antibiotics or could it be something else?
I seriously doubt its any form of contamination because its pure white and doesnt smell funny. Can anybody tell me what in the hell that white foamy bubble thing is?

there are white contams... (have seen greens that start their life white, then turn green... the spores are green so when they sporulate they seem to change color)
i don't know what the hell that is though but its not myc. that whole cake looks really sickly... if you were lookin out for pure white how did you miss the fact that the rest of the cake looks pink/brown/orange?

I'm totally curious what it's going to turn into. You should set it out on the window sill or something and let it keep growing just to see what happens, but make sure it's totally isolated from anything and everything involving your grow.

I should also add theres a contaminated looking cake next to the one with the puss bubble. There was some yellow goo coming off this cake but people were telling me its just antibiotics created by mycellium.
I believed them at first but im not so sure anymore. This looks pretty contaminated to me.
Its covered in piss colored stains and its starting to turn a little black.
I picked this deformed mushroom off it today. Does that mushroom look unsafe to eat?

Alright I seperated it and left it on my window sill to see the outcome. Its funny because apart from the puss bubble its a totally healthy looking cake. A few little yellow stains on it but its still pure white.

i found this picture - appears to be the same stuff.... its a green mold, you just managed to grow one bigass specimen there like i said, get rid of it immediately, don't wait for it to turn green... go chuck it outside, half way down the block green = spores. spores of that crap all over your growing area = pretty freekin bad idea. if you think that's a totally healthy looking cake besides the puss bubble, i think you need to re-learn what a contam is! you said it yourself, myc is pure white. not brown, pink, orange and purple with yellow puss seeping out of it.
that other cake is just as bad. i'd toss everything you got at this point, give your FC a hell of a cleaning as well as the surrounding area, and don't eat that mushroom.

Omg dude, those cakes look disgusting. How could you not think they are horribly contaminated?
Your casings are probably fucked now too. Maybe take the cakes out and let the casings go to see how they turn out...if they crap out on you like those cakes then chuck em and as said before, clean the fuck out of the FC.

I think fungusman is onto something.
Try turning that cake over and looking at the bottom, I'm almost willing to bet that you'll see mean green lurking down there.
Do yourself a favor, listen to everyone and toss that cake out!!
Don't even chance ruining your setup for one infected cake. Maybe you should be posting this in the CONTAM FORUM.
Good Luck though, I hope you get it isolated soon and you don't have an outbreak, but it may be too late.

I thought fungusman meant if I looked under the puss bubble I'd see green. I looked at the other end of the cake opposite the bubble and its the same as its been for months now. The dry verm layer is a little darker than usual but looks pretty normal.

I threw out both cakes on the pictures. I inspected the other cakes and they dont look like the other 2. Theres a few small yellow stains but nothing serious.
I'm not looking forward to cleaning out that fruiting but I suppose I'm going to have to do it sooner or later.
Is it possible to experiment with possibly infected mushrooms without killing yourself or making yourself too sick by consuming tiny amounts?

why would you want to experiment on yourself. sounds like your gonna end up killing yourself trying to have a good time.

Depends how moldy it is. I've eaten bread with blue or green mold on it lots of times and never got sick but I have no idea what kind of chemicals this yellow and purple shit will send to the mushroom so I'm not going to risk eating it. I was just wondering if people can test a mushroom to see if its poisonous by ingesting extremely low amounts of it.

It's been in the fruiting chamber for about 2 months now. Theres a dry verm layer on the other end of the cake with the puss bubble. The verm layers a little darker than it was before but doesnt look green at all.

Jonnyjonjonjon, you are nuts. I and everyone on this forum are skeptical of what you consider "normal" or "healthy" at this point. Post pics of these yelow cakes... you know, the "normal" ones and let us have our say. I mean, the majority is frightened for you. I really hope you do not share these with people or eat them yourself.
Lastly, why the hell are you eating moldy bread?!??

That looks like some kind of Mycogene sp. or "wet bubble".
Quote:
Bubble The most conspicuous symptom found is described as a globe-like mass of mushroom tissue, a dry bubble, Figure 1. A single mushroom or a cluster of mushrooms can become a spherical mass of infected tissue covering an entire infected area. Occasionally as the diseased tissue ages, a few amber drops of liquid may form. These liquid drops often cause confusion with another fungal disease, wet bubble, caused by Mycogene sp., Figure 2. However, the difference is that only a few infected mushrooms exhibit the amber drops and for those that do, it is often only a few very small drops. Wet bubble is characterized by large and numerous amber drops covering the mass of mushroom tissue. The bubble symptom usually indicates an early and severe infection of the mushroom pin or even before the pin is visible. The early infection disrupts the growth of the mushrooms tissue preventing it from developing into differential shapes of the stem and cap.
FYI, http://mushgrowinfo.cas.psu.edu/Verticillium%20Dry%20Bubble.htm
Btw, i wouldn't trust those cakes ...

I actually just found a similar spot on one of my invitro jars. Kind of odd that so rare a contam would pop up this week in the forum and I would indeed see it in reality. The spot on my invitro (did 2 invitro jars for the hell of it) was tiny in comparison to yours, but no less disturbing to find.
