Best bang for the buck kit?

Hopefully this is the right place to post... Anyways, I'm a newbie and want to start growing mushrooms. I want to buy a kit that comes with nearly everything I need to do the whole process. I've been looking at spores101.com and want to purchase a kit from them but can't decide which one to get or what options suit me. I of course want the best band for the buck. Meaning it comes with everything (or nearly everything) you need to get from the spores to the edible dried mushrooms, requires little work, doesn't cost too much, and prodcuts good yeild. What do you guys recommend? Obviously not one kit will be the best in every field.
Another side questions. How much in weight does 1/2 pint cakes usually produce in edible mushrooms? I know it depends ont he type but a rough estimate is all I want.
Thanks for any input, Danny

Best bang for your buck is to do it yourself. Overall a kit will cost 10x more and you won't know what you're doing. There is more than enough info here.

You can build THIS for about $20. Jars, brown rice flour and vermiculite can all be purchased easily too. Kits are crap.

begginers usualy start from kits as its the easy way to get started. but after a successful run, they usually switch to making their own. making your own is much much cheaper though kits are almost idiot proof and a good way to give you a step up then from starting from scratch.
begginer kits usually starts with you just injecting a bag and keeping it warm. and then putting it in a fc and then pick the flushes.
while is you make it all yourself you have to do everything. just my 2 cents

kits are NOT worth the money! it's simple enough to grow mushrooms and you can pull off enough for 10 trips (and alot more) with about 20$
a single half pint is said to produce something like 5-10 grams dry

I don't care about the money much for the kit. I can easily make the money back by just selling my friends some and having a fun weekend. It's the time building something that I don't have. The setup in the 2nd post is way to simple. I want it to be less fool-proof, less work, and produce good quality mushrooms. Since I haven't done this before a setup like that has a much bigger chance of error. The problem is, is that right now my weeks are extremely busy. I don't have the time to run to a couple stores to get the stuff and put it together, especially since I get caught up in those things. But I want to have the shrooms ready when I get out of school in 5-6weeks.
Does anyone here use kits? Or does pretty much everyone build there own?

pretty much everybody does it from scratch here. there is a reason for that....
you get out what you put in. if you're looking for great yields super easy no effort you're gonna be disappointed... if only life were that easy its going to take effort to succeed. even a kit is going to have its problems and you're going to have to spend time troubleshooting them. some kits are helpful in getting you going but most of them lure you in with promises of being fast, easy and fruitful, when all they really are is expensive and below average at best. they probably aren't going to be ready in 5-6 weeks either unless you're buying some huge kit that includes an incubator, and a fruiting chamber, and all that. most kits keep it simple at the expense of it taking much longer since you won't have ideal conditions set up.

1) We don't take kindly to drug deal ers IMPO 2) How is that tek too simple? If you never have a prob before PMP is the best? 3) There is NO, i repete NO way to grow shrooms easly! This is a hobby for the patient. And there is never a garantee!
Your best bet is to wait and do it once and do it your self! That is my 2 cents

whats so bad about drug dealers? they give you what you want for a price. they risk getting caught to give you what you want. and not everything is free.
anyways i reccomend the mycoshack bulk grow kit. its $150 and everything you need is there. + mycoshack has this jar for jar thing.

I dont want to deal.. just have a fun night with my friends and let them pitch in for my time.
I have plenty of patience, just not time. I've read alot on growing them.. I think its pretty easy. You just follow directions to the T and you shouldn't have problems

then you won't save any time by getting a kit... it's exectly the same only more expensive
i'm fruiting my cakes (after a dunk and roll) in 1.5 litter soda bottles that i've cut to insert the cakes and to be able to open... first flush was 50 grams avrage out of each cake! that's not bad at all from what i've seen people with much better FCs do...
it ain't such a big deal! if you still want to throw your money away you're welcome but i'd expect to see you back here when you've done something wrong and you can't figure out what (because all you've done is read the instructions which don't really explain anything)

That's cool if it is for recreational, I know alot of drug dealers, just seems stupid to me to put all the time into making your own and not being able to trip.
I kinda have to agree with http://www.mycoshack.com/ b/c i kinda work for them
The only thing is that you are paying soo much more for someone to prep it for you, just give it a second thought about doing it your self, it is worth it!

Get a Mycodome. Check out mycodome.com or mushbox.com. The Mycodome comes with everything you'll need except sporesyringes. The littleguy.com has good prices and quick service along with a great selection of spore syringes,microsporetech.com and spores 101 are also good venders.I bought a Mycodome a few months ago and they have a great support team and forum. I you want to be success your very first time, the Mycodome is THE way to go. Good luck and peace and happiness, jackflash

Kinkyllama= lazy mofo. You will fail at growing, and you will shell out 200 bucks for 40 dollars worth of shit. That tells me your pretty stupid. Oh and how is the PMP too simple? Its the exact same concept as the kit you looked at, and its funny that 2000 other people grow in the PMP just fine. I guess you know more about growing than most people on this site...Or your just a ignorant fuck. I think #2.

You dont have to be a dick and attack me like that.
Like I said, I'm busy working 45hrs a week, going to school 20-25hours a week, and preparing a race car before each race. What did I say that makes me sound like I know anything about the subject, thats why I'm here asking questions

i dont know how much you work on the car but if you put aside 1 or 2 hours a day devoted to growing, that should be plenty of time to get started.

...Sounds like a sales pitch to me. Your best bet is NOT a small, 200 dollar grow kit. If you made your own stuff, then you could get 20 times more than a mycodome could ever grow. And have enough money left to donate to the shroomery....;)
