im pretty positive, but a lil re-assurance is needed. i think i gathered up a heap of pan. subbs.(Panaeolus subbalteatus)
cap color= reddish brown size= varying, refer to pics.... gills= dark brown to black stem= reddish brown, hollow sporeprint= jet black/ refer to pics... habitat= horse manure and rotten hay with lots of dead rotten wood nearby... non bluing when bruised, according to mushroom johns site and berk & broome archives, its not likely they will bruise blue in this region. i am in south east missouri by the way. i hope someone is on here tonight that can help me out with this.... theyre ugly.... but damn i wanna eat em... i wanna eat em allllll....... i appreciate any help!

I am quite positive they are pan subbs. That is quite a bagful too. I would print them all (for a bit longer than the ones you printed above) just to make sure the sporeprints are all jet-black, then enjoy a wonderful trip. I hope I have as much luck as you this year!

I agree on P. Subb, however, it appears you might have a bell cap or two in that brown bag. They shouldnt hurt you any. If those came from horse shit I would recomend slicing them out as apposed to pulling em out. That way you dont end up with little balls of shit in your bag of mushrooms.

Damn nice find.
as appalachain said, just be careful, sometimes people get potentially dangerous mushrooms mixed in their batches during the excitement of picking

You definately have SUBBs there but you better be sure those are all the same mushroom......and that they ALL have BLACK BLACK spore prints.....you would of have been better off seperating them on a table gills facing the camera and shot from close as you can never have enough trained eyes on a large collection like that....
and tho they dont have to blue to be active....although it might just be the camera but in the third pic down the white stem next to the spore prints appear to be bruised blue - green
Many populations of Panaeolus subbalteatus can be "INACTIVE"

They look like winners to me. Nice thick stems and cap coloration is right on. Good find.
