i just cased a pint jar today i put a dry layer of verm about a 1/2 on the bottom then i crumbled the cake into small sized balls then i put a 1/2 of the moist verm on top. And put it in a rubbermaid container and stuck it under my bed.
Does it sound like i did it right??? and yes i did sterilized the verm
MAN,,,,,What a beautiful smell the cake had when it came out the jar this is my first growing attempt

well you will want to incubate that for several days. is that what it is doing under your bed? if so thats fine. start watching it in a few days though watch for it to start poking through. a great pinset is all about timing.

is this the jar you asked about just 2 or 3 days ago if you could case a pint that was only 3/4th done? if so i'm betting it didn't finish in those 2 or 3 days (especially considering when casing a jar, you want to wait several days after the surface has been colonized), and if so you didn't do it right... you'll be very very lucky if its not contaminated

you might get lucky if you cut off the part that didn't colonize... but if there was a part you could see that didn't colonize, there very well may have been some inside. if any uncolonized substrate was exposed, there's unfortunately a chance it picked up some nasties in your crumbling/casing process. keep your fingers crossed! the best thing you can do is keep that container CLOSED for several days. don't peek even once. that way anything that was uncolonized has a chance to be colonized before you bombard it with any more airborn contams. good luck...

If it didn't colonize if will not contaminate it....don't woryy. But, if the uncolonized section was contaminated then just monitor very closely if you cannot find and remove it. Usually it can handle a bit of contaminants, just don't let it slide again.
Congrats though!

I would recommend that you used peat moss instead of vermiculite. Along with that you should use a aquarium with a thin layer of moist perlite on the bottom to set your tray on and have it displayed in a fashion thats more acceptable then just having it underneath your bed.
