Attached are some detailed photos of what I think are panaeolus cyanescens / tropicalis that I found in N Thailand. The spores are black, they stain blue and the stems are hollow. I dont know any other mushtroom fanatics in the area who would know these from experience. Could someone with personal experience of these have a good look at these pictures and give me their opinion, I dont want to mix id with potentially deadly ones. Thanks in advance.

Yes those are definately Copelandia (Panaeolus).......probably as you suggested Copelandia cyannescens.....nice spore print .....extremely active....
Dung + Black Black spores + Fast Definate Bluing Reaction = COPELANDIA
keep checking this post for few days see what all you get
Here is a suggested link..... http://www.mushroomjohn.com/copelandiacyanescens1.htm

I think the type collections for sp. novum were from Cambodia and Africa.....also numerous reports from Calif. but nothing in deposit......also multiple reports from Hawaii but dont believe? any vouchers there
also in Mexico by Guzman........claims for Japan and Phillipinnes

My mistake - your right. That being said Teonan went through every variety of Pan available throughout the OMC and could find none with 2-spore basidia - the obvious indicator of tropic.

I think the actual delineation was upon the internal granulated spore of Tropicalis as Cyannescens was optionally bisporus though predominantly tetrasporous......but if what you said is true......maybe even more of an argument for synonamy

Ask Teonan/Eontan - im pretty sure there was a huge argument for synonymy

I have a Pan tropicalis print on a slide but it is not available.
Also if one wants to see some differences in the four main Cope species then read the species I. D, section in the Shroomery's Ultimate Shroom Guide linked from the sticky at the top of the forum page.
There is also a series of photos of Copelandia tropicalis growing from a day old dung heap which photogrqaphed every three days for a 21 day period. Specimens were put on Deposit at the Bernice P. Bishop Herbarium in Honolulu from Allen and Merlin.
The Copelandia Bispora was originally only identified from Central West Africa and by Stijve and Me from Kualoa Ranch, Oahu, Hawaii. And several years ago a lawn at a church in Bern, Suisse, produced several pounds abundantly in thier lawns from fertilizers brought up from Menton in southern France.
I also deposited Copelandia cambodgeniensis and Stijve And I have chromatograms of the chemical analysis and taxonmy on that one also. Those iamges of the 21 say growth in the field along a trail area are posted at http://www/mushroomjohn.com/cultindex1.htm
So there are some physical macroscopic differences, but one still needs to study them under the microscope.
Rhoades and Pollock also reported Copelandia tropipcalis form Hawaii which were sent to Schultes who sent them to Roger Heim in Paris and they were identified as Panaeolus tropicalis.
While I deposited numerous collections of shrooms over the years, I only found one cowpie with C. tropicalis and never again int he islands. So the mushroom is esttremely rare int he wild. but may there may always be a few tropicalios on a couple hundred or more of C. cyanescens.
