What the fuck are you hassling boxtop for. He is a stand up fuckin guy and he didn't even say anything to provoke that. That shit is just unnecessary. He was simply giving a bit of advice for the man that asked for the advice and you have to come in here and talk shit, well fuck that bullshit. You need to get a fuckin life.

The Oven-Tek has been proven effective many times over by countless people. If it is such bad advice then why do reputable Spore vendors like Sporeworks recommend it for makng syringes big boy?

I have to agree somewhat with BashoPoem - the oven tek sucks ass. I have not once created a successful syringe with it (4 tries) and the other two times where I used a cardboard glovebox I had no problems.
I, however, see no reason to diss boxtop703 like that - just state you disagree and give your own advice (which you didn't).
Uv1 - I've had various mishaps like yours both times while making syringes in a glovebox and guess what - they were all clean and viable
You could use a test jar (or two) and try squirting 1/4cc of each syringe into a maximum of 4 different holes in the jar. Number them and see what grows from each innoculation point.

When I would use the Psilocyber Oven-Tek, I did a couple of things a little different. Besides spraying the entire room with disinfectant, I also had 2 large Honeywell-Enviracare hepa filters going. I also would use a regular-mouth half pint jar with a plastic lid in place of the shot glass. I would lift the lid to scrape the spores in, and then tilt the jar and use the 1 hole to suck the spores into the syringe. This worked extremely well. Even before I had the filters I had great sucess with the oven-tek.

I personally don't see how the oven-tek can be any better than the kitchen counter. Just because you read it at the Spore Works doesn't make it gospel. I requested that Psilocyber put in "unproven" next to the oventek theory because I personally think its an unreliable method. Granted I have never tried it and I am unlikely to test it, so I can't honestly dispute the claim. In my opinion, a cheapo Holmes Hepa filter (model HAP 240) at around $40 (on sale) from Walmart tipped on its side, blowing across you work area is far superior. They are commonly found at garage sales and flea markets dirt cheap but I would then replace the Hepa filter insert at around $15 each.
In a pinch a cardboard box with a saran wrap window on top flooded with lysol spray until all air is displaced is a close second.

Well I tried it, as far the study of the currents goes.
And I found out that the air coming from under the jar goes directly into the jar.

Anno, try it with the oven door rather than the rack and you should not be getting ANY air coming from below.

I just did, and the smoke from the incense rises OVER the jar and into the oven toward the top. Then the smoke gets pushed out and goes above the stove.

Exactly. The (dust particle laden) air from the kitchen is going over the jar, exactly where you handle your agar wedges and grain that you transfer....
IMHO, the oven tek sucks.
