Rye jars fucked. contam .. again. give up on grain???? hmmmm
i think maybe i need to be less impatient with grain. By this i mean i have been knocking up the jars right away. I'm still on syringes because my last two strains were not to my liking. But i was thinking, if the contams are coming from my prep, IE my grains or my process then if i make the jars then wait 3 days while there in incubator, the contams will show themselves and i can chuck the jar, not waisting the syringe on a bad job. Then if all is well on day 3 i can knock the jars up. Any contam after that it is a spore problem or a problem with my clean room procedure. Isolating the vector for the contam is going to be crucial if i am to keep trying with grain.
also if i did have a jar showing some contamination b4 i knocked it up. i realize it might be bater to just try again. but if it was just a little, couldn't i just re pressure cook it. I'm sure i have read that the bacteria is much more fragile once it has began to grow. The idea is a bit repulsive but its sound is it not?

I use to do the same thing (wait a week)
But I stopped because they'd end up stalling 3/4ths of the way, due to either moisture loss or to much water, lol. So that doesn't really help either when it comes to grains, unless you've got the moisture content down to the T.
Back track your steps and try again, maybe try something a bit different, you'll figure out what it is eventually, and then you'll figure out how to fix it i'm sure.
Either way, good luck, don't give up yet

lemme level with you.
when I was growing, I did all my work in my kitchen. I had two successful grows until a string of 4-6 that were horrific. I lost between 20 and 40 jars total (varying sizes and ages), money on grain, money on syringes, money on electricity, and hours upon hours of time.
I thought I was doing everything right, I was sterilizing everything perfectly, preparing my grains properly, etc...The whole entire problem was due to some nasty, nasty molds growing in places I couldn't see (underneath and inside cabinets, the washing machine, etc). I cleaned my floor with vinegar, then wiped my walls, cabinets, washer and dryer, and everything else with clorox wipes (because that's what was available at the time).
My point to this long, rambling post is clean everything! Give it all a good once over, then check it again. If it needs it, give it another go. Make sure it is absolutely clean. Other than water content, this should solve all your problems.

I had this problem also. Pull out all the carpet. Bleached the ceiling, walls and floor. Took out draws from built in cabinet and bleached behind them to. Grows strated to happen after this but I still built a flowhood. GL

What size jars?
How long are you PCing?
Are your jars too wet?
What are you using as a filter for the jars? Polyfil? Tyvek?
How sterile is your inoculation procedure? This is the most critical part.
Make sure that when you are inoculating, you have wipe the injection area with isopropyl, and then cover the needle of the syringe with an isopropyl soaked gauze (or sterile cloth).
I have inoculated many jars in my moldy, dank basement, and never had my rye jars contaminate.
And I mean this basement is really nasty. Nasty molds everywhere (when it rains, water leaks in the basement), nasty pet dander, nasty dust everywhere, nasty drinking cups with mold in them, and a big nasty trashcan with nasty trash that has been sitting in there for months.
