    #5570229 - 04/29/06 01:14 PM (17 years, 8 months ago)

Check out this story I found on CNN
http://www.cnn.com/2006/WORLD/americas/04/28/mexico.drugs.ap/index.html
If only in America... Of course there are both good and bad sides to this story. What do you guys think?

Like the cops down there really cared anyway. It's not about what you have on you anymore, mainly how much MONEY you have.

A good friend gave me advice about going down there in search for your goodies....never take your debit card with you. Ever.

Yup, the amounts are fairly small. But when they realize that its not a big problem for people to legally have a small amount for personal use, they will expand it, surely.

What i like about the mexican law is that ALL drugs are legalized in small amounts. Even LSD, which we all know to be the most horrible abomination known to man(if you listen to the government, anyway).

Most of the people here are not educated enough in order to difference between weed and heroin i wonder if the ones proposing this law iniciatives do.

There has been a big confusion here anyway, i've been hearing some idiots' comments like "it is finally legalized" and shit... they don't understand what "controled dose" suposed to mean and this news is spreading fast mouth to mouth because mass media have not given propper attention to this event.

*sorry about my english

so if the police are extremely corrupt (ive never been to mexico but ive heard that they are) then how much would it take to bribe a whole police station to allow a buisness to operate selling it like a store or something? or just a percentage of a profit to certain officials to look the other way...

Ya, thats generally how it works in Mexico, so i'm told by several people who lived down there for a period of time. They don't even think of them as bribes anymore. Its more like a tip.

You just make sure to tip your police officer whenever you need him to look the other way, drug deals, traffic violations, or possession.

yay somewhere that may be a little less sketch than smoking in sandiego. sure it may only be 5 grams but if you g with 3 or 4 buds and you all have 5 grams you almost have an ounce and heh an ounce, cheap bong or pipe you throw away while down there and a 12pack would lead to an awesome time in a hotel room with your buds (no not that kind of time you sickos unless you wanted ha ha)
yeah its best to carry maybe 20-60 in your pickets and leave the rest in your hotel so you just give them the stuff you have.

these two cops on dirt bikes stopped us on Rosarito beach and tried to say we stole camo jackets and combat boots from federal officers. simply because i had heavy duty boots on and my friend had a camp jacket. but we were fine.

As mentioned in the news article, the amount of peyote you can legally carry is quite large.
I'm for it. If Mexico has it figured out that putting users in prison solves nothing, maybe Canada will figure it out as well.
Fingers crossed, guys

I am from Morelia, Michoacan but i live in Guadalajara, Jalisco.

You can still get into big trouble if they catch you removing an endangered species from the desert, bigger than drug charges of course.

And for buying cops well it depends the region and the bussiness you are willing to run (and it's size of course). The bigger, the more people you have to buy. U can get off from a pot bust with maybe 20 USD but'll need a little more if you want to sell coke needless to talk about local competitors :P

Peace

I think we should ALL send an email to the president or the appropriate person (perhaps an advisor) saying that we agree who heartedly with the proposition, and we are now considering taking a holiday to Mexico. It should also be pointed out that we don't traffic drugs and we aren't complete dregs (i.e. we have a job, education etc). Does anyone know where to obtain an appropriate email?

It isn't legalization, its getting rid of laws that arean't even really enforced, cause most cops take bribes. The amount you can legally have is also a bit too small for personal use, half a gram of coke, should be a gram of coke, 25 mgs of heroin shoulda been 100 mgs, etc, though for other drugs the laws work out pretty damn good.
