if you wanna redneck it, try and find an old pair of computer speakers. first make sure they work on your ipod, like check that u can play music over em. cut the wire, split and expose a bit of both sides of the cable. then find an appropriate input to your deck, mine was an RCA (the red white and yellow tv cables), buy one that will go into your deck, cut and expose wires, then fiddle around until it will play over the deck. Electrical tape the bitch, and then from there you can take the ipod out by simply unpluggin from the old input to the comp speakers.
Itll probably drain the shit outta your batteries though. But lemme know. and ill try and help with questions if you want

yea thats what im sayin, take the HU out and find what sorta input you have, buy a cheap input that will suit and splice the wires out of an old computer stereo into it. Should work.

eh, my friend did it. cost like 10 dollars. im jus sayin it drains the ipod batteries faster then usual. hes had it for 4 months now with no probs, fires the ipod into the glovebox and puts it on random

There are many decks that now let you plug your ipod into the deck. Check your local audio shop.

my friend has an iPod holder mounted in his car which transmits the signal to a selected radio frequency which is easily and clearly picked up by switching his radio to that frequency.

That's what I would do.
FM transmitters SUCK. I battled with several over the past year and I have come to the conclusion that I would rather listen to the headphones than a shitty FM signal to my car stereo.

My old stereo had RCA inputs in the back. My new one has the aux on the face. I like the new one but if your stereo is any good at all it should at least have RCA inputs in the back. Then just buy the appropriate cord at radio shack.

From the short listen I took in my friends car with the FM transmission, I couldn't tell the difference between that and picking up regular clear stations.
The only problem I could see was that sometimes you got interference, but then he just changed to a different transmission frequency.

fm transmitters are more of novelty, really. they suck. I recommend either a head unit with aux or just a tape deck + tape adapter plugged into your mp3 player.

i just picked up 2 fm transmitters for $1 each at the clearance section at staples, the chick had to go in the back and check to see if it was right, cause they normaly go for $45 (you could tell they were used for awhile, then returned) but they both work... i dont use it, but i got em for when i need em
anyway, i got my hu for $120, plays mp3 cd's, and has an I/R input in the back, which allows you to buy various adapters for it, the ipod one is $100, which will display the track info on the hu (lame) or the RCA input for $15 (then you get a mini>rca adaptor for $3) which is what i'm going to do, since i just ordered a freakin 60gb mp3 player Here's my hu http://www.techronics.com/index.cfm?fuse...FTOKEN=57213503
note: i purchaced this one for a few reasons, first bieng the ROATARY VOLUME KNOB - fuck a button... beep beep beep beep beep beep Beep Beep Beeeep BEEEP BEEEP.. every time you turn it up.. it's suprisingly more difficult to find the rotary volume knob. it also comes with a remote. (already lost)
this one has aux inputs on it. http://www.techronics.com/index.cfm?fuse...FTOKEN=57213503

it was pretty funny too, cause this was the first sterio i actualy bought, normaly, between my brother and i, we'd just aquired a bunch of shitty sterio's as needed, so when he saw my sterio for the first time, he was all "aw, sweet, it even has the knob for the volume"
