Hunting in Texas?

Ok, I am trying to figure out where I can find shrooms. I have access to a ranch by Stevenville but I haven't found any actives. Is there a certain thing I should look for? There are horses and cows. Tons of cow poo but I never see an active stuff. What am I doing wrong. Should I look around creekbeds or something? I always go early in the am. I am about to start growing my own but it would be nice to get and just find some. Any info would be muchly appreciated. Thanks.

I'm in central Texas around the capital, and we were left 700 acres, with no actives so far. I posted the same question and it seems this in not totally unusual. Some tracts of land, areas don't have them. I have EVERY other mushroom it seems except morels and actives. Still hunt often. Good luck. the douche

Thanks for the info. I am going fishing tomorrow but I plan to get up really early so I can look for some. Maybe I will get lucky.

I found some growing on the bottom of a cut-down oak tree. It was surrounded by dead leaves and grass. The shrooms are off-white with white gills and skinny (slightly wavy) caps. The stem is skinny. Theere were tons of them growing at the bottom of the tree. All together very closely. The bottom of the tree was covered in mycelium. They were very white and after I picked them they turned an off white. They were picked about 1-1/2 hours west of the dallas fort worth area. I tried to upload pictures but my phone is a piece. I will try to post some pics tomorrow. Any ideas?
