To case or not to...case
    #5565926 - 04/28/06 03:28 AM (17 years, 9 months ago)

hey, first time cultivator here

I have about 6 jars of nearly-complete healthy white myc.(thanks to all the people on here!) incubating in the popular bucket-bucket-dome apparatus.

I'm thinking today is the day I want to start the growth process but I'm at a loss over how I want to actually do it.
A popular case tek that utilizes those plastic cups--for mini?casings-- is suppose to increase yield size, I was wondering if this is atleast fairly accurate?

I'm also really interested in doing an actual full size casing but the 3-in-system wont support growing that all at the same time.

I feel like I've gotten the impression from something I read, that claimed casings can do pretty well w/o all the attention(humidification/stringent temps.) of individual cakes. Should I just throw a jar or two in an aluminum tray casing...that I can only store in a clean, 78 degree closet?

Or for a first timer, should I just set out each individual cake and not be so yield-oriented on my first grow?

Wait until the jars are FULLY colonized before birthing them. Case those puppies to optimize yield. An aluminum pan will do fine. Crumble and case, incubate for a few days, place in a plastic tub in your closet. Rig up a light on a timer. Fan and mist as often as possible, and you're in business. 78 deg F is a little warm for fruiting, but should work, it's just not optimal.
