I'm in a rut
    #5565901 - 04/28/06 03:17 AM (17 years, 9 months ago)

:crankey:

I hate it when that happens.

Every week goes like this:
M-Th: wake up 2 hours before class starts. Take shower, eat hastily and have coffee, and then leave for class. Arrive almost late or a few minutes late. After classes have ended, come home, eat, play computer games. Go to bed.
F: Either stay home and do nothing, or go with friends to get baked and do nothing. Eat 1 meal less than I should have eaten. Go to bed.
Sat: Same as friday, but with 1 more meal, and a general sense of dread that monday is getting close
Sun: Sleep in and miss church, and wish I had gotten up early enough to go. Waste day doing nothing. Eat one less meal than I should have, and drink 2 more cups of coffee than I should have. Reluctantly go to bed, knowing the whole pile of shit is going to start all over again.

This is mind numbing. I don't know if I'm intentionally trying to waste months at a time, or if I'm just really prone to doing it anyways.

Man I know what you mean. Ive apparently been at this university for 3 years, but I have no idea how. I guess i know more things..or do I at all, really i have no recollection of what i knew coming in. Maybe I know nothing new, and everything Im doing is a waste. Every week is exactly the same, I find myself having to occasionaly do ridiculous things just so I can remember something.

Your problem is the term Should.

Stop living your life relative to other peoples presumed enjoyment and activity.

Summer will be here soon and you will have a reliefe from the stress of school. If that doesn't cure it, check back in.

I feel the exact same way. But as soon as summer comes me and a coupla buddies are hookin up a camper to my truck and headin to western Montana. Lookin for some adventure, soul-searching, and some trouble.

I actually used the term "should" to compare what I would be happier with (or healthier with) to what I actually wind up with.

Summer I suppose will be more fun. Maybe I can go to burning man if I can be back before classes start in late august (fuck the early starting semester at this college :mad2:). I just hope I don't wind up in a similar rut where I wake up, go to work, flip burgers, come home, eat, play games, and repeat.

Konnrade, I've been feeling the exact same thing for the past year. I fucking hate the cycle. The worst part is the morning, feeling as though you haven't even recovered from your last bullshit day.

You can break it.I know you can. Go to a park. Find a place to go hiking. Get that blood circulating. Meet some new people. Break in to places just for fun.Look around its there.  GL

This is excellent advice. I find early morning outdoor physical activity really helps break up the monotony of the weeks in college. It really feels monotonous this time of year though. I'm in a similar boat. GL!  :sun:

Well, I set my monkey on the log
And ordered him to do the Dog
He wagged his tail and shook his head
And he went and did the Cat instead
He's a weird monkey, very funky.

Id say try to have a good time with whatever you, if it is either school or games. Just realize that you are in the here and no, and dont worry about what is coming up, or you might miss out what is going on. If you have to change what you do to think it will get you out of the rut, then so be it, but what makes everything more content with me is living in the present, and acting now.

I used to love hiking with my dad when I was a kid... and there are the foothills just a few miles north of me...

That's a good idea, I'm going to go hiking next week

I'll get some good excercise while I'm out having fun, too. Gee, that was a good suggestion

Sounds like you could use a camping trip man. Maybe bring a few shrooms with you too and a buddy/woman.

It's allright if you know the area. If I'm bored it doesn't cost much money to go take the gold line to union station. And then you're in the heart of LA with a bunch of interesting places within walking distance.

The suburbs are pretty nice, too. Amenities are easy to find, and yet the Angeles National Forest is very close by. So, there are the comforts of the city, but nature is very nearby.
