Shroom storage, heat, drying.
    #5565783 - 04/28/06 02:36 AM (17 years, 9 months ago)

Hello,...

I have three questions regarding storage, heat & drying...

From a theorectical 290 grams wet weight, this should dry to a weight of 29 grams, but having only reached 36 grams is this satisfactory for storage?... I've been informed that any moisture will destroy it's viability...

However, while drying through a mixture of constant fanning and heat, is there a maximum heat temperature that will destroy the shrooms viability for further 'experiences'?

Lastly, what is the best method to preserve shrooms?... in a ziplock bag in the refrigurator? or is a dry cool place suitable?

Regards,...

And yes, that's ABOUT right. Mushrooms aren't 90% water, they're 92%...So if you've got 100grams of wet mushie...It won't turn out to be 10grams dry, it'd be more like 8 or 9.

Moisture does destroy viability.

Everyone says no, but I know that pysilo. is a very unstable chemical, I just try to dry it with desiccant, which takes about 48 hours...

I usually fan dry for 20 hours then dry for 24-48hours...Then it's cracker dry..

Anything plastic is bad. Turns them into mush.Dry cool place =

I dry my cracker dry and then put them in a desiccant chamber i Got (kinda big), and just leave them there, and they last till the desiccant turns to mush , which can be a year or so.

I read on here a long time ago about the 9er tek...Where you dry them...Then get Vinegar and baking soda and let it fiz in a glass...then "pour" the c02 from it into a quart jar (dont let the liquid get in)...Then you put the mushies in the jar with the c02. And supposely that would last for a long time as well.

And the honey tek...Which is where you dry the roomies and then put then in a jar of honey...not sure how long it lasts, never really done it, simply because I like to fast for like 12 hours before I trip...So my stomach is REALLY empty, and I think it'd suck balls to be tripping and have a bad stomach ache (all that honey lol).

Hope that helps
