reusing perlite
    #556495 - 02/19/02 05:03 PM (22 years, 7 months ago)

i'm writing because i would like to know if anyone else has tried this. here's what i'm doing:

i take the old wet perlit & bake it in the oven @ 300F in a thin even layer till it's try.
i'm planning to use it again.

what i would like to know is... does anyone know if i will have any contamination problems?
it's such a waste to just throw it out.

No, it should work fine, just make sure you dont burn it.

It's so cheap and easily avaiable here i've never really considered it. Too much work.

You could stick the perilite in a 5 gallon bucket with a bleach water mix.

Then drain it....then stick into a another bucket with water.
I'd drain it a few times to get rid of the bleach.

I don't do this....but it should work though.

I get my perilite in huge 4 square feet bags.....for like $12.00
Not worth my time messin with it.
