Being Gorged to Death

I have heard stories of people being gorged to death by bulls. Frighteningly enough, my first expirience mushroom hunting I was confronted and stared down by a bull. My heart raced, perfusive sweating, mussles became wobbley. I tried to distract myself as not to do anything stupid so i turned to my friend, I told him "that bull was looking straight at us" , jabbered on for a few moments trying to buy the time while in the c orner of my eye i could still see the bull staring DIRECTLY at me. after a minute or two, the bull stared away, and we slowly went our seperate ways.
If that bull had decided to charge me I would probabaly be dead , if throwing a red towel in the other direction doesnt work...
anyways i pretty terrified of being attacked by a bull but determined to start hunting again in a few weeks. are there any extra percautions anyone can reccomend? should i perhaps get a red towel or something? (it is going to be night time)

Don't be such a tool. I've had to run from a bull before. Bulls like the ones you're thinking of are bred for aggressiveness. Most domestic bulls are docile, and unless you run up and punch them in the face you're not going to have a problem. Incidentally, I had to run because an asshole friend of mine thought it would be a brilliant idea to try and touch it.
They're like bees. Just don't provoke them, and they won't mess with you.

MOst ranchers try to have their cows throw calves(give birth) around March-April. Your biggest concern should be avoiding fields with calves, cows and bulls together. The cows are very protective and will simply run you over. Stay near fences until you get their mentality. If the whole heard starts towards you, your fine, they just want you to feed them. If one starts towards you and the others stay, pay attention, find a tree or fence. I've been ranching all my life and only been run down once by a steer that just got his nuts cut. He was pissed. He ran me all over the place. I hope I've eaten him.....

If you think there is a chance that bulls might be in the field, just don't go.
Is it really worth getting injured, when you could just find a field that has cows only?

I don't know man. I've come across some bulls that started doing the snorting and scratching their hooves on the ground just because I was in their territory(I guess). I slowly *walked* away and he stopped. I have a feeling that if someone didn't know how to interpret the bull's behavior two things would happen: 1. They can be declared retarded 2. The bull will charge them.

Well I too have been in a ton of fields all over with bulls, cows and calves. I have found in all of them if you run straight at them yelling and screaming you will scare them all into submission and have no problems picking all the mushrooms you want. This especially works well with the biggest bulls you can find because if you can scare him in front of the whole heard, they have no choice but to declare you the almighty. Hope i have helped in some way...

Shoot the bull, quickly harvest the mushrooms and vacate before the farmer finds out and shoots YOU.

No shooting the bull. That's just cruel. You're on his turf illegaly. If anything, if bulls' could own/operate guns, they should be allowed to shoot you

ive never had any real problems with cows, usually they just moo at you..
when shroom hunting i try to avoid the cows, always trying to be walking away from them.
and with that method ive never had any problems with cows.
i just walk away from them. just dont get too close to them and there shouldnt be any problems.

I have been chased by two bulls in my life, not a very pleasant experience. I believe it was mainly because we were in their territory.

Bulls are aggressive by nature, if they feel threatened or uncomfortable they can be a danger. But, as long as you keep an eye on them. go by during the day and spot as many as you can see, then during the night you get a flashlight and spot as many as you can, and stay away from them. if they charge you, use those floppy appendages of yours and high-tell yourself outa there.lol.

Yeah, some horses can be wild and unpredictable. I wouldn't want to get kicked, trampled, or whatever..
I try to keep my distance from all big animals. Something about being close to them makes me feel nervous.

the word is "gored". a gorge is a geological occurence like a ravine.
i find the best policy is to give the cows/bulls some space, and be attentive to their noises/movements. if bulls are present and the herd seems exciteable, calmly walk in the other direction.
