Dry a second time around?

I have been thinking of storing my mushrooms in chocolate form, as they are less conspicuous. Does any one have any tips on this?
Also I am worried that they are perhaps not dry enough to be powdered, can I toss them in the food dehydrator again or might that cause damage?

BTW, this is my second batch ever and I yielded about 40gs dry!

It's fine to throw them in again.. i ate mushrooms in chocolate once but i forgot how much i had put into each one. I overdid it and tripped so HARD i literally couldnt understand english. Simple words like "the" and "a" were so confusing to me. lol

I make chocolates all the time. I use diamond shaped ice cube trays as my mold. You can probably find them at walmart or something.

Use a coffee grinder to powder them. As long as they are dry enough to be powdered easily, it's dry enough.

I like to mix about 30g of dry mushrooms with 300g of chocolates. It makes about 35 chocolates at about .8-.9 potency each.

I melt my chocolate in a crock pot and use a rubber spatula (it helps get all the chocolate into the trays) If you using regular sized trays then only fill them up half full. Otherwise you will end up with some big honkin chocolates.

To avoid the "I forgot how much was in each and ate to much" problem lol. Just make sure you weight them before adding them to the chocolate then divide that weight by the total number of chocolates.

You may wanna look into getting a bigger desiccant chamber to store your mushies in for a longer period of time. I like to keep them there sine it guarantees they're far, far away from moisture. Then whenever I feel the need to enjoy the fruits of my labors, I just toss them in a grindr and weigh out some powder.

If they are not dry, dry them with a fan or a Dehydrator. Use your Coffee Grinder to Pulverize the Mushrooms into powder. Someone I know :smile: uses 18 grams powder for 10 Chocolate. They just use store bought Chocolate, 5Oz for 10 Chocolates.
Get your Good Ol' Ice Trey out, a Pan or Pie tin. Put your stove on the lowest setting, and put half the chocolate into the pan to warm on the stove. After if melts down, pour 1/10th into each "Ice Cube". Place the pan back onto the stove and place the rest of the chocolate into it, allow to melt while: You get out your Scale, weigh the mushroom powder, it should be 18g, Using a spoon scoop out 1.8g into each "ice cube" that is already half filled with chocolate. After "dosing" each cube, fill with remaining chocolate, mix each cube with a spoon while chocolate is still melted. YOUR DONE!! :smile: Just place in the fridge or freezer to cool, which only take about an hour.

At least make a double boiler--as it doesn't need to be very hot--and if you use a chopper instead of a grinder the magic will hit you more gradually. Coat your mold trays with Spam or cooking oil so that the chocolates will pop out nicely. I use a 9 parts choc./1 parts shrooms formula. You can wrap them in foil and store them in a ziplock in your fridge indefinitely. The oils in the chocolate help preserve the goodies. If you use baking chocolates (semi-sweet) you will find it melts more uniformily and is easier to work with. Good luck.

I make chocolates all the time. Drying a second time around should be fine. Be sure to use a double boiler. Chocolates are the best way of eating them (other than fresh) because of all the surface area. Remember, the digestion time is inversely related to the surface area. I usually put 1.5 grams dry in each one. It takes about 15 minutes for them to start to kick in. My friends love them. As do I.

Oahh yeah, get non-stick aluminum foil. It makes things a lot easier.
