CRAZY SHROOMS- ID Help Please - Another NW Alabama find
    #5559761 - 04/26/06 06:36 PM (17 years, 9 months ago)

I found these in hardwood forest on a mossy mud embankment
Cap: bright red w/ yellow ring around rim
1-4cm diameter
Gills: yellow/ sponge-like
Stem: red & yellow
solid
1-5 cm long
Briusing: distinctly blue (looks green because of yellow gills)
Sporeprint: in progress

I believe those are either Boletus versicolor or bicolor.

I believe they are inactive, inedible, and I'm not sure if they are poisonous or not.

spores indicate Boletus bicolor.

but to be certain, how fast did it take to bruise blue?

While there are some bluing boletes that are edible(NOT active), bluing boletes should be regarded as poisonous. The bluing boletes that are poisonous can make you pretty damn sick and look very much like the edible species.
