I wouldn't have anything to do with anything in Newark. It's a cesspool

before you take my words to heart ask someone who really goes there! use www.facebook.com
it's ok but the town of newark is really shit. The rutgers campus is small small small but it's kindof a good thing. I go to RU New Bruns but Newark in the summer. I wouldn't much wanna live on campus there! The computer labs are good. the science labs are good. the help in the office is shit! Local idiots who have zero interest in helping you. the gym is good. the track is good. the lounge is good. the library is awesome to study in and hide away in a corner. there is wireless internet all over campus (which is not hard to do, haha i think they have 3 transmitters total). the law building is open 24 hours so if you hide in one of the rooms you can chill overnight and study. there's no place in new bruns open 24 hours. i'd say you have a good deal if you go to rutgers newark. The town is dangerous and walking just from the train station to school i got stopped a million bum homeless a second.
be glad you arent at rutgers camden. my friends and i were stranded at a rutgers camden train station at night and over 8 homeless crazy people were there. some were scary!! even a cop came over to us and told us we didnt want to be there.
To compare: the worst that ever happened while i was at newark broad street train station was a bum shitting on the sidewalk and a nutjob preaching to me about god.

I would be living on campus. Im talking about the social life and stuff more then anything. Rutgers is gonna have good academics i would imagine. Is there partys or anything there?
I also got accepted to Montclair State University. If your in the area you probaly know it. I would be living there also. This is like 20 minutes from home which is pretty good i guess.
Im just looking at the social life. Also what about transferring to New Brunswick? can i go to newark for a semester then transfer to New Brunswick?

1. people do transfer from newark to NB 2. there isn't the biggest social life b/c of the location, but people do try. NJIT is right across the street, and between the two schools there are several faternities that are active...but only helpful if you like that scence (i don't). There are only a few bars around the campus, generally one doesnt walk more than 2 blocks away from the campus in any direction, so there aren't many options for shopping/food/coffee etc. 3. The dorms are pretty closely monitored. 4. RU-Newark is really only a choice for people that want 1 thing out of college--the education/degree. the faculty is good, the copm and library facilities are excellent, but it is more of a serious school than party school. 5. I know MSU very well also. MSU is not as good of a school as RUN academically, but it is way more of a party school. The apartments have had a party rep in north jersey for a long long time. lots of off campus activities. Lots of girls. my advice is to visit both campuses.

Its not bad, there is plenty of cool people around that spot. They are also making a whole block into new dorm buildings. So it's going to be like a college student oasis.
